GM is doing that, not Toyota. GM needs to use every gimmick it can because more and more people are realizing GM trucks are rolling pieces of garbage. Dollar store quality @ premium prices doesn't fool folks forever.

I remember when I bought my 2022 it was built in June, but I did not take delivery until late August because there was some type of “traffic jam” at the factory in Mexico, I never got an explanation… And trucks that were built after mine at the same plant were delivered to the dealership before mine arrived.

    LOL

Chevy/GMC are doing huge discounts right now because their trucks aren't selling fast enough, and dealers are loaded with inventory while new trucks keep rolling in from the factory.
Maybe now they are going to slow production, but they certainly aren't doing it to get a higher price, they are doing it because dealers are swamped with too much inventory.

Within 50 miles of central CT there are 551 chevy/Gmc 1500 trucks for sale. In the same area there are 89 tacomas(half aren't even on the lot yet)

GM is not holding back production to fetch higher sales prices. They are doing it because the market is flooded with them. My local chevy dealer is offering 8k off on some models.

Right now you can buy an entry level 1500 with the 4cyl turbo in the low 40s.

Please don't base your facts on what that Kilmer idiot says. He is not a good news source lol.

For the average guy who just wants the latest and greatest and only keeps trucks for a few years, it's hard to spend the same on a Tacoma when you can get a full size for the same cost.

I don't really care, but it's more entertaining than professional sports.

The point is, well this is no point. What I find interesting is what production or sales numbers will be with the out going 3rd gen and the incoming 4th gen Tacoma. There probably wont be an all new Tacoma released in our life time after this TNGA-F platform goes on sale. Given the long life cycle of Toyota truck platforms.

But the issue is not everybody wants or needs a full-size truck. I personally wouldn’t want a bigger truck even if it cost the same because there is no room for big trucks where I live.

The stupidest part of all of that is you would still have to order a 1500 short bed if you want any color other than white or red.

I have always thought Toyota trucks have been over priced. Same as any other manufacturer's truck or other vehicles.

Pickups in general are at an all time high on pricing.

resale on Tacomas is far better than the other trucks on the road, if you’re leveling up every few years, Tacomas actually make the most sense.

yeah, where I live congestion and small parking spaces are the norm, my Tacoma is way easier to get around with. I would love a big truck if it were a little more feasible from a daily perspective.

You usually pay more up front I'm not sure if it makes a big difference. Pay more retain more value, pay less retain less value. Tacomas do hold their value. HD trucks hold their value pretty well, and they are a different animal than a Tacoma. Domestic 1/2 tons depreciate the most, but there are far more of them in circulation.

Probably the outrageous markups on them putting you into full size truck territory with a whole lot more options on them. Not to mention my full size gets 7 mpg better than my taco ever did.

I'd buy a new regular cab Tacoma tomorrow if Toyota built them, even if it was a 4cly 2nd gen.

Whether you believe me or not, is up to you. 2015 sr5 dclb paid 26k new, sold 2020 34,600, bought a dcsb limited, sold in 2022 made 4k on that. Bought 2021 tundra sr5 O.R., sold last week, got what I paid for it. Just bought 2023 dclb sport with all the options 45k, I’m sure I’ll do fine if I sell it. Shit I sold my 91 for 5k more then I paid for it as well as my 92
