Good morning shop crew, have a great Thursday!

 

How far will a colony travel with the queen? Neighbor had one in a bush by her house. Another neighbor was going to come get, and put it next to his other hives.

 

I'm paying a company to dethatch, aerate and fertilize this year.

Looking into doing it myself, renting a dethatcher would cost me $100 for the day. Then I have to drag all the dead grass to the recycle place, which would take me 12 trips with my 3 garbage cans.

He's doing it for $150.

Fertilizer from Costco runs about $50 for the bag. Grass needs to be wet so it sticks, it can't be too windy, etc.

He's doing it for $65.

I didn't even bother looking into aerating and overseeding. I figure it's probably on par with everything else for pricing.

One of the other companies in town gave me a quote of $240 more than this guy.

I haven't even paid him yet and he's already doing it.

Aerating your grass is one of the best things you can do for it. Soil gets compacted and when it does water doesnt always get to the roots, it tends to run off. Opening it up allows water, fertilizer and nutrients to get deep. When your roots have to go deep to find water, you will have healthy and hearty grass.

 

You mean you guys actually encourage the stuff to grow...

My yard is white half the year. Anything I can do to see green is worth it.

 

I wouldn't think it grows long enough to be worth the effort...

 

My lawn is absolutely destroyed by the dog. Trembled, torn out, peed on to death. I try but dont get too wild. Maybe one day. Or maybe I'll just zero scape and call it a day haha

 

The 5 months when it isn't white and the one monthin the spring when it's brown.

 

My dogs are small(ish) so I have a penned in area off the garage in the landscaping for them. No landmines or pee spots.

 

Uncanny.
