Hey, yes the clamps worked well. They are a smidge loose, but they sit low enough in the recess that's its not a concern. I guess I could shim them with a washer or something if it gets worse over time. But when the tail gate is up every thing is nice and tight. I may put some blue thread locker on the bolts. Just in case

My 3RZ had a ton too now that I think about it. Might be something about both locations being close together on the head, the flow path isn't as defined through the crank case

No, it's just a convenient source of "filtered" air and a place for vapors to go when the system is overwhelmed as opposed to out to the atmosphere.
You could plug the connection at the intake tube and stick a little filter on the valve cover/hose and your engine would never know the difference and you wouldn't be the first to do it. The purpose of the PCV valve is to regulate (down) the volume of air drawn (by vacuum) thru the engine so as not to create issues associated with vacuum leaks.
In terms of volume of air flow in the intake tube, the amount stolen by the PCV system is inconsequential.

Yes, that happens when the "system" is overwhelmed by excessive blow by and/or periods of low vacuum such as low(er) RPM open throttle situations. Engine wear (rings), driving style, manifold pressure and fouled, restricted or sticking PCV valve or any combination will contribute to overwhelming the system.

I have a pet theory that the 3.4 PCV system is "more easily" overwhelmed than it should be as indicated by the number of folks seeing wetness in that hose. It seems Toyota was aware of this because in later years they increased the diameter of "that tube" and added a metal "can" at the intake tube connection.

Replaced my factory rear speakers with a $30 set of Kenwood 6.5s and stuffed the ext cab cubby under the windows with nylon stuffing. Sound much improved over the way too tired factory speakers :bananadance:

The front doors have some pretty old Alpines in them, they sound OK but for another $30 I think I might be due to replace them too.

Yeah, it's a nice ride. It splits DD duties with the Tacoma. It's got just over 100k miles and I'm still going through it fixing little things.

I know there's a couple of different 1st gen speaker configs so I'm not sure about your year. I popped the grille off the speaker and measured the factory one to be 6.5" center to center across the mounting screws each way in an X before I ordered. The new 6.5s fit without any adapter or changes save for crimping a new spade connector on one of the connections with a broken wire
