Yep that's the lower trailing link.

I didn't say it was a control arm, my post was edited and that was added in.

I would like to see an xrunner too, but I'm pretty sure this is the smaller cab SR.

I mean some people call them control arms (lower links) but they don't look like that jutting forward.

Yeh I get it, but that's not what a lower link setup looks like in Toyota's pic. It does look like the bottom of a leaf pack and is different from the other pics as was pointed out to me.

As I posted in the other thread:

Comparison with a 2nd gen Tacoma 5-lugger leaf pack on Rock Auto:

Now that line has been crossed, who's to say drum brakes won't reappear on the base trim?

^You haven't looked closely. The silhouettes of the TRD Pro, Trailhunter, and the mass-market DCSB all show trailing arms which match the spy shots. The RWD access cab silhouette shows a leaf spring in a spring-under-axle arrangement. With the lowered ride height, Toyota probably couldn't package coil springs in there without intruding into the bed space.

The 2nd gen Sequoia had independent rear suspension while the 2nd gen Tundra had solid axle with leaf springs. Evidently welding different brackets to the frame and axle isn't a big deal for Toyota. Another example is the 5th gen 4Runner with KDSS having different control arms and different frame braces.

So, safe to assume that this thread is not going dark until May 19th?

BTW: I still think the 2.5 L all-hybrid is going to be an option on the lower-cost models. With an automatic, Toyota can get some serious MPGs for the non-TW customers.
The 2.4 turbo will be available “straight” or “extra spicy.” You read it here first…..

If Toyota is going to have major suspension options on the Tacoma, I'll take a solid front axle please.

Anyone thought that those shots are not actually pictures but renderings and the person doing the renderings made a mistake...thats actually a lot more plausible than creating one trim and configuration with leaf springs, but I guess anything is possible

The reveal is at 1:30 am eastern time. I'm thinking it's a video live reveal.

Only one out of the four configs with leaf springs? And only one without a transfer case bump below the frame? .

Yeah kinda, but also a purposely left in mistake? Make people think its gonna have leaf springs so you can act like you really fooled alot of people and have the cool wow-factor when they showcase it having a rear coil setup, like everyone didn't already know.

Or it could just be legit. I wouldn't be surprised if the lowest trimmed model/work truck didn't have a leaf spring setup.

Could be, to keep the base truck msrp low. Guessing the linked rear is going to add a couple grand to the price. Ranches and exterminators buy the base trucks by the dozen out here. They might even keep the NA 2.7 4 slug too.

Link suspension work better for off road articulation. I"m betting the leaf spring is a 2wd base model.

Pest control trucks gotta have something cheap, along with the countless other business fleets that choose tacoma, with no need for 4x4.
