I appreciate the concerns. I got the news from the body shop. Both doors the B pillar and inner and outer rocker panel are being replaced and color matched along with side step rails and the other insurance is paying for everything. When I was talking to the shop manager today he said that the truck is spotless. The frame is spotless and having changed out all the parts over the last couple of years has kept it looking great and maintained resale/trade-in value. I think the side steps are the only things that were actually showing some bubbling rust so getting a different set of those is fine with me. Total win in many ways!!

    Greetings!

Nothing new to the taco this week except I got the front windows tinted to match the back. The shades are the same, but since it is OEM vs aftermarket they look a little different from the inside. We will see if it ever bothers me too much.

For more fun, new sticky rubber on the miata. Continental extremecontact force. 200tw tires are so much damn fun. Had sticky ones years ago, then for the last 4 years I ran 340tw. More grip the better!

Good morning CT. Enjoy the weekend!

Ordered some different connectors for my fuse box. It will clean up the wiring when I do the install but I'll have to wait until Monday for the parts. :(

So much other electrical stuff to do however. I think I'll start by filling out my to-do lists and then possibly start wiring the switches in the cab or shorten the wires going to the outlet in the bed. The harness was from a dual cab, long bed so you can imagine how long they are.

Not even exaggerating! ACPI is basically its own operating system, and the complications of UEFI/OF are extensive even though most people think their computer is not even "on" yet.

    Happy Friday all.

@Offbeattacos Agree on the 200 rubber. I ran 225/50-15 Kumho 710 as an auto-x tire on my '94

Working on a landscape project today. Off to the nursery for a dwarf butterfly bush and a bunch of sedge...but first a coffee.

@HAVOC very kind of you to help out that guy with his backup camera wiring

Thats a lot more rubber than me! 205/50-15 on a 7" wide wheel. Fitment is nice enough.

Waiting for the workday to end so I can head out into the woods! Working remote today from our house in Norwich, VT, then off to the green mountains!

Going to disagree with y'all on the "more grip is better" thing on sports cars, tons of grip is good to a point but if you can't easily break the tire away on command for slidey fun then it's not for me ;)

Do any of you guys have a favorite tri-fold Tonneau cover for a second gen? Insurance told me they are going to be replacing mine since it went flying through the air and landed on the pavement. I had a Undercover Flex for the last 12 years on the truck and it did great. No issues until the points that you pull the release cable for the side clips started separating from the cover. Are they still worth the money or should I look at something else , I saw they now make a Line -X coated cover ... Any different brand worth it?

I had to roll the fenders and fortunately was running a lot of camber to make them fit

Same boat here, was leaning towards Lomax after reading another discussion here but no other details or experience.

Had a free Bakflip on the truck for a while. They're OK till things start coming apart.
Besides the hardware breaking, I had issues with water getting in between the panels. The cover became waterlogged, then froze in the Winter making ripples in the panels. Weighed about 100 pounds when waterlogged and water drained out for weeks when I took it off and stood it on end. Again, mine was free so it didn't bother me when it failed.

They're nice when they are in new condition but IMO, they don't last and not worth the amount of coin they ask for them.

Since, I've gone the Softopper route. Happy with mine. I pull it off before Winter and put on a cheesy tri-fold. Mine is an American Tonneau. Not a bad cover for the price.

I prefer the soft roll up variety. Had a tri fold briefly but quickly switched. Tri folds have to be removed completely to use the whole bed and then what do you do with it. That was it's downfall for me. Have had a roll up on mine for 14 years. Replaced just the vinyl after 7 years but the replacement vinyl is still holding up well.

I took a look a some pics of the truck and noticed that I had and Undercover Flex tonneau cover, not a Bakflip. From everything I can see... The undercover one still has a stronger coating than the Bakflip. Bakflip seem to scratch easily. Undercover makes a model of the normal flex that is line-x coated lol.

    @tattooedsnake

In your question on a tonneau cover, I have the Back Flip three panel hard type not soft type, had it installed since I purchase the truck new in 2013.

NO ISSUES! I can meet up with you if you want to see it installed.

Holds up very well but is slightly faded. the truck stays outside, no garage available.

I previously had a soft type with snaps, great in the summer but in the winter, you needed hot water to make it pliable enough to reattach it to the snaps, that what made ne get the Back Flip.

In my case it worked out well for me

I'm in Newington if you want to meet up to see it installed.

Thanks man. I was trying to decide between staying with Undercover or try a Bakflip. I spent a while scouring the internet and decided to get the Undercover Armor Flex, this Sum bitch is line-x coated lol. I had the Undercover flex on my truck from the day I bought it 11 years ago and it survived almost everything. It lived outside, sometimes under a tree and got everything from Ice to sap on it. I love having a Folding Tonneau cover so I figured I would modernize mine since its paid for.

I ran into that same issue when I installed a backup camera into my car (4 pin or 6 pin). I forget what year they changed it but it was in the 2nd gen, 2014 maybe? I went with the 6 pin camera and cable.
