The build quality, smaller but tougher profile, the way it hugs the vehicle vs the standoff of the Rig'd, the departure clearance, reenforced tow hitch, minimal movement when installed, seems more resistant to rust, the serviceability over time.

I don't believe Rig'd offers a left side swing as well and that was a must for me or I'd have to flip my entire setup.

Just felt they were offering a super quality product and wanted to support a smaller company as well. No regrets.

So far I love it. has met all my expectations. The assembly with the Frontrunner table can be a bit tricky by yourself but I put my two brain cells together and figured it out. They recommend you have a friend when installing. I get complements all the time. I've only done a few rides out to the lake and back road trails to off grid camping since I got back into town from work. Weather on weekends just won't play nice. I plan to hit eastern TN, smokies, trans America trails and others. Moving to GA soon as well so plan to explore everything in-between.

Wilco also has a spare tire carrier BUT it is flat, sticks out too much, and is not built as solid as the Trailswing - cheaper though. I have seen the hinge bolt come loose over time. It also doesn't allow for attaching a bike carrier, a camp table, etc...

I also haven't pulled the trigger on the Trailswing because when I do need a full spare, I mount it on top of my Decked drawers. It also bugs me when I have something considerably sticking out from the back of the truck - makes the truck handle like a fish.

As far as the camp table, I have an RSI smart cap along w/ their camp table (that is stored on the ceiling of the smart cap).

Holy crap $2K just for a spare tire mount!?!?! You can get a whole bumper for that much!

But will the bumper save you when you blow a tire? I do agree with you though, it is a lot - another reason I haven't pulled the trigger. The accessories add up too. I can save some money by not getting the accessory hitch ~ $250. I can either live w/ a smaller diameter tire (and limp home) or place a full size in the bed.

I agree that it's a lot of money for a swingout however, no company makes a whole bumper with swingout(s) that works with BSM. Also, you can move the swingout to different vehicles if needed.

58050F1A-EB53-4E82-8462-BCEDA9F548D1.jpg @Patton250 you already have what I assume is a steel rear bumper. Have you considered having a custom fabricator weld a swing out arm to your existing bumper? I also have a retrax tonneau w/ an uptopoverland rack and have wondered if it would be possible to add 2 cross bars below the rack to fit the spare tire on top of the retrax. Dont think it would work with my mid height rack, but should be possible with your full height rack. Rhino-Rac, Front Runner, and Billie Bars all make low profile bars that could potentially work with the Uptop Rack

Yes. Most aftermarket bumpers come with a swingout option, and many will still cost less

Most of the major bumper manufactures are charging quite a bit more than 2K for a swing out bumper from what I have seen

Brute force fab bumpers are where it’s at if you’re going to buy one. Under $1700 for bumper + swingout, more options will add up but still one of the better deals out there

Damn that is a good deal. They must have not heard about inflation because those are some pre 2020 prices. Having to get a bumper powder coated after delivery is a bit of a hassle though.

As I am only running 33’s i decided against a tire carrier. I would rather not have the weight that far back. I have carried some heavy coolers in a hitch rack and it made the truck ride like crap.

If I ever go to 35’s I would most likely rock a 33 spare in the stock location and trust that plus a tire repair kit to be able to get you home. I also have a powertank so in theory could re-seat a blown bead.

Need to find some thing for my tire too. Im just playing with fire by not even carrying the spare with me. Had a close call though, found a screw in my rear tire when we were on vacation and was shitting bricks the whole drive home. No radio the whole drive back, just listening for anything that sounds like my tire may be going flat. Luckily it wasn't deep, it popped out on the drive home. Might just strap it down temporarily until I can get a rid'd or enough for a rear bumper.

I didn't want to do a bumper as modifying the least amount of the body was my goal. It being removable in minutes and easily transferred to another vehicle is also a huge plus. Not everyone's cup of tea tho, I get it.

Can confirm blind spot works just fine. Back up is turned off tho as it covers some of those sensors. Just for anyone's SA.

Could you elaborate on what bike carrier this is?

The 1Ups seem to be limited to 75lb, not enough for a motorcycle; the design does seem similar. Your second link revealed nothing for a two-wheeler.

Yeah, sorry. Didn't see you were looking for a motorcycle carrier. I thought you were looking for a mountain bike carrier.

The other link wasn't a carrier, but a 35" spare option for Tacomas that is one of the few options that aren't a high-clearance that require cutting the body.

Mine is the 1Up Super Duty single with the fat tire kit. I got it from Quietkat.com hence the animal eye stickers, ha. They do state this on 1Up and QK's webpages:
    • Rack weight: 28 lb
    • Increase bike capacity to 3 bikes max with additional Add-Ons (sold separately)
    • Total carrying capacity of up to 225 lb (75 lb per bike spot) due to added support bar under tray
Not really sure how 1 slot can only carry 75lbs but you can add 2 of the extra trays and get 225lbs total all on the same hitch point?

My bike is a Surron. That setup without the battery is 107lbs and change. Travelled like that a few times now with no issues.

Amazing how perspective taints our views. I saw a motorcycle chain and tire as I wish to carry a motorcycle. I’ll keep looking as even the 225lb limit will not meet my needs. Thanks.
