Chevy offers a WT package. Toyota counters with a basic work truck option complete with leafs dedicated to payloads. Fleet sales are a large business for them, and input from those fleet customers will be taken seriously.

I’d bet that the upcoming global Hilux based on this same platform will offer versions with leaf springs, so not a huge stretch for Toyota to interchange.

Not sure why that concept is baffling some people this week, but I guess we have to debate something until Toyota shows all its cards in a couple weeks…

I sure did, and for 30 years. Makes me wonder if that is why they tend to last longer, underpowered engine in an over built chassis.

I think there’s some truth to that. I also think that trying to wring every HP possible out of a little 4 cylinder engine will have the opposite effect.

Yeah that is that too…dunno, maybe Toyota engineers are masochists and like their necks wrung? Lol!

One reason Toyota doesn't play the fleet game in the US with the Tundra and Tacoma is they do not have the excess build capacity for those trucks, as well as the large Govt fleet contracts are usually forced to be awarded to one of the big 3, you see them rotate thru brands every few years between Ram/GM and Ford

Do ya really think Toyota chose to spotlight the base trim on the silhouette marketing photos.... And if Toyota did not do a payload package on their full size truck, why on earth would they do it on the little one... Just to beat Ford, Chevy and Nissan at payload ratings?....Nah, I think Toyota likes being last in those kinds of things

I worked for several Ford dealers in the past and I can remember quoting a power plant 10 Super Duty trucks and the fleet discounts are insane. We are talking crew cab F-550 4x4 diesels for under $35,000.

No, they will not play the payload game, but they will play the price game. And if it takes throwing leaf springs and drum brakes on access cab to keep the starting price under $30k they will.

Was thinking it might be the return of the X-Runner, but why put leafs on a sport truck? Spring wrap and axle hop for one thing.

They already have a bunch of accessories up on the site. Surprised they didn’t show the Rhino rack. Maybe it didn’t silhouette well.

There are a bunch of ARB products already up for the 23s, assuming they’ll carry over to the 24s.

Don’t think those were there last year, getting ready for the Trail Hunter package.
