Turbo, manual, 4th gen with all new suspension might be tempting.

Watch them only put the manuals in the lamest trims though...

Lots of speculation in the 4th gen thread, but it's all speculation. :notsure:

2.4L turbo seems to make the most sense to me. The hybrid option will be interesting too.

    They just confirmed 5/19 reveal.

Can someone give me the TLDR regarding understanding where I can and can't drive public-land wise? I'm in Green River/Rock Springs to do some rental hunting and would like to do a little offroading in the meantime, but don't have as good an understanding as I thought I did of access. I use OnX Offroad, but I do have a few main questions.

All the offramps on I80 that go directly to dirt roads...are they planning construction? Is it usually access to public or private?

As far as marked/named roads and trails that go through both public and private land (other than BLM maintained trails like the Pilot Butte Scenic Trail) are they just public until you hit private land?

This one is more of a confirmation of what I believe to be true, but do I need any special license to drive on Wyoming public land if not specifically stated? Like Utah's new OHV cert for example(that I already got).

Forgive the basic questions, I just couldn't find a TLDR type resource from WY State or the BLM that felt clear enough for somebody new to this much driveable public land, and the kiosk with info at the RS BLM headquarters is in rough shape too (am I allowed to just go inside the building to get info/answers from somebody? Didn't even think about that)

Unless it's somebodies driveway or clearly marked as private, go for it man. This is the wild, wild west.

You don't need any special license. Most things you shouldn't be on will be clearly marked private/no trespassing etc. You can talk to people in the BLM office and they will answer any questions you have

These sure feel squishy compared to the ko2 I had previously. Maybe the old tires were just hard... They had weather check/rot cracks. Nice and smooth ride now! Just a bit more hum than the ko2.

Took half the weight to balance as well.

I'd bet the opposite. Only manual in the most TRD'ed trims so they can charge more for it.

Most roads are dirt. A LOT of county roads are just dirt roads. Plus oil service roads, mine roads, BLM, BOR, State, ect. never worth maintaining asphalt due to the cold in a lot of places.

your Onx maps should clearly state what is private and whats public. But any service road on public land is fair game.

And if it is anything like their current manual, it'll have a computer between your left foot and and the clutch and your right hand will be swirling around a jar of marbles pretending that there's a gear in there somewhere.

This is probably obvious but I’m going to state it anyway. You need to stay on established roads. They can be vague 2-tracks, but there has to be something there. You can’t just go off randomly across the sage.

Ok like, what the fuck kind of answer is this? I ripped out the tranny to send them pics with markings and they just dont know which one to send me so thats it? They cant help? This CANNOT be that fucking hard to just send me a torque converter for the truck. This was from cobra by the way. They seem totally useless and unwilling to help

I do know that, but don't mind the reminder. I'm sure plenty of people don't know/don't care and just see it as a desert wasteland that can be trashed with no repercussions. I'm actually planning to spend a little time picking up garbage on the public land when I have some free time, although my limited driving out there has shown it to be cleaner than I expected for the most part. It feels like people respect public land/the outdoors in general a little more here than at home in NY.

Even douchbags in tacomas will drive off trail for that "perfect" campsite. One from this group that had to camp near us in the middle of nowhere a couple days ago felt so inclined.
