As my 06 Tacoma is inching it's way towards a 20th birthday. I'm looking forward to taking a look at the Toyota Stout if/when it comes out. OR I may consider a Nissan Frontier which seems to be a bit more reasonably priced than a new Tacoma. Then as an alternative, I have a day #2 reservation in on the Tesla Cybertruck.

Just for the heck of it, as I sipped my Gentleman Jack last night sitting in front of my computer....I priced out a reasonably equipped 23 Nissan Frontier quad cab. Nothing fancy, 2wd base came out at around $33k for my zip code
92131. $1,200+- shipping I believe. I've had Nissan trucks before and my dad drove a Nissan. If and when I am considering replacing my 06 Tacoma, I may give Nissan another look. I wonder if the turning radius has improved?

Hey, I'm totally cool with you preferring a second gen over a third gen. I was just pointing out that guy was spreading misinformation about third gens when he doesn't even own one himself. It's good that you know which truck works best for you!

I have owned all 3 Generations and to tell you the truth I was disappointed with my 2 gen for frame rust. After I got rid of my 2 gen I received a letter to for a frame inspection 2 years later. I do love my 3 Gen so far no issues at all none.

And the 3rd Gen will do the same, so will the 4th Gen, etc , etc. You need to coat the frame with Fluid Film, or alike.

Not in my neck of the woods! The local dealer has Tacomas on his lot with MSRPs marked up to around 45k!

The popularity of this 3rd gen Tacoma seems to be unwavering. Demand is still very strong. Most popular Tacoma ever. Fords Ranger is stagnant, but folks may be waiting for the 2024 MY? The GM twins seem like a strong competitor to the Tacoma but are hard to find so far. Don’t know how well they will age. Especially with cylinder deactivation. Not sure how the Nissan Frontier is doing in terms of sales. Lots of competition in the mid size market is good. I wonder if Stellantis will ever introduce a midsize? Seen some renderings a while back but nothing concrete. Does the Ridgeline really count?

Read that 2024 Toyota Tacoma will be unveiled on May 19 2023.
    Motor trend:
We're expecting the 2024 Tacoma to have an electrified 2.4-liter turbocharged I-4.
I guess we have to wait and see.

lol same. Tacoma sales haven't been this high in my household since 1997. They've hit a nearly-20-year high.

Ranger isn't going to be as popular as the Tacoma. Ford loyalists like NA V8s and PowerStrokes, Ranger doesn't have either engine it has a turbo4. There are a good number of 5G Rangers on the road, there have always been Ranger fans and customers who want a domestic midsize.

Ford cuts Ranger production to build Broncos, and they haven't offered many incentives on Ranger since the end of 21. Outside of Ford actually cutting Ranger production, if the Bronco wasn't an option Ford would probably sell some Rangers to the people who bought Broncos. The Bronco is still a Ford favorite among new car buyers. I still like the 5G Ranger against the 3G Tacoma. I wouldn't mind having a Bronco, but would prefer an open bed. Now if a manfacture offered a Bronco with an open bed, that was as stout as a Ranger and had Toyota quality dependability and reliability. There wouldn't be any competition IMO.

Tacoma sales are up I posted that about two days ago. Tacoma sales were down when I started this thread.

Where the numbers fall at q4 2023 is what I'm looking at.

If a manufacturer offered an F250 diesel lifted on 35's for the price of a Tacoma, there wouldn't be any competition from me either.

The gasser I was looking at was just shy of $49k I've seen a few listed with about 3k off. Same trucks had a $10k ADM on them a year ago.

The trucks I were looking at weren't diesel, and I think I'd rathercgo diesel on a HD truck. These are all 22 XL regular cab 250 6.2 6spds. The 23s have seen a price increase.
