There’s got to be a few other cowboy boot owners on TW. Let’s see what you got.

I’m sitting in my office in downtown Dallas with some new Tacovas in Canyon lizard skin:

I'm a square toe guy. These are just a pair of Ariats with a work sole I wear. Nothing fancy, just a pair from Tractor Supply Co. IMG_20190401_033111~2.jpg

I rarely wear any of mine.

I have a pair of redwing steel toes that have been my field boots for many years.

At home I have a few more unique ones that were part of my grandad's collection. I think I have his elephant, iguana, and ostrich. I have some basic gray ropers that are the "dress boots."

I also owned a few pairs that I rarely wore and have slowly gotten to the point of wearing them a lot more often. It’s part of my growing DGAF general life outlook, I think.

Sorry. But if you are looking for a little rationalization, they last a long time and Tecovas are actually on the more affordable side of high end boots.

A little of this and a little of that.
I’ve worn “cowboy” boots for many years. I’ve worn Justin, Ariat, Red Wing, and Twisted Wire boots to name a few. Pull them on and go.

    Let's see, I have
    • gray Rios of Mercedes, material unknown
    • Blue Rios, elephant
    • Tan Justin's, python

    PXL_20230506_132723011.jpg

    • Brown Rios, iguana
    • And an absolutely ridiculous pair of custom made ostrich knee -highs from Olathe

Oh, and my actual redwing field-work boot, and my overpriced Renaissance faire boot. :cookiemonster:

Pretty much nothing but ropers for me in the last 30 years. Used to be daily wear because ropers could pull off wear with a suit if you needed to. I got 2 pair of Justins now, marbled deerlites and a pair of Justin black that I think that are called corona. Now days, ropers are slim pickings. Used to have quite a choice in them. Been tempted towards some tobacco ostrich in Rujo or Tecova, but I wear them so rarely now it's not really worth it.

My idea of a dress boot these days. LOL

Last 15 years my boots all gravitated to steel toe and my nicer boots wore out and didnt get replaced. Had a pair of brown Justin ropers that were resoled 4 times and re-welted once before the uppers gave out, and a pair of gray ropers that got welted twice. THe new ropers from Justin have synthetic welts and they just arent the quality they used to be. I never fell in with the square toe boots, though I had a couple pair in safety toe.

Just a warning do not buy a pair thinking they will last me a life time, because somewhere between 60 and about 65 years old your feet will jump a size to a size and a half. I have had to replace every pair of shoes and boots I owned in the last 5 years. I need to start wearing western boots again but heel spurs causing me some issues, and working from home sine 2019 I never put on anything but sneakers, hikers or hot weather military style boots. Heck it's been over a year since I even put on a button up shirt.

These went in the dumpster about a month ago, thats 8 years of sweat stains LOL
