I get the C1290 code… I clear it, then I get anywhere for 1 second to 1 minute of driving before the VSC and PCS come on.

I tried disconnecting the TSS then driving to see if the VSC still would come on… and it did, but after 1 minute of driving.

I’m super far from dealer… but I took it there once and they told me it was the metal hoop on my front bumper…. But I drove it 10,000 miles without that causing an issue. Told me to get new bumper…. Any thoughts what to do from here??? It’s a 21 TRD Offroad

Just ran the TSS through the grill and taped it to outside for clear view and nothing :(.

Check for a broken wire/cable. You’ve got 2 separate issues going on, that both started at the same time. Either a broken wire or a bad ECM.

Obscuring the radar sensor will cause a pcs malfunction, but not a vsc malfunction.

Take it to a different dealer. You're under warranty. Be insistent.

The hoops do cause lots of issues, can you unbolt it from the bumper at all?

It's probably at the point where it needs a scantool to clear the code anyway.

Thanks! That's really what I wanted to know... if these were related or two separate issues. I want to say they both started last time I got an alignment at a shop I normally don't go too... Maybe they snagged a wire??? Weird thing is when I clear the codes, it'll stay with codes off indefinitely until I start driving, and then usually not until I get up to speed for 1 minute... Really has me stumped

Depends on what you did to it, but I'm guessing not. Not of you have done a lot more than just a bumper.

You do anything with your steering? Check for that. Clock spring could be broken.

So just talked to the dealer. They're going to charge me $150 for a diagnostic... then if it's "under warranty" they'll fix it. That on top of literally a full day of driving, $100 of gas...

Feel real stupid now for buying a new truck.... Guess I'm going to have a Christmas tree dash forever... Whatever

That's more than just the TSS radar being blocked. You should only get the PCS Warning and OFF light. Based on my 2021 Tundra. I unplugged the sensor and in the dash settings you can turn PCS Off. You should double check all your fuses too.

I clear the codes... and the dash will stay off indefinitely until I start driving for 30+sec which makes me think it's more along the lines of an alignment issue.

I believe these lights came on a long time ago after an alignment at a random shop.... Is it possible an alignment would fix this???

That's definitely worth checking before going to the dealer. Unless I had my TSS module disconnected, it took more like 5-10 minutes of driving for that light to come back on. I was using a modified LED Emblem in front of the module instead of the regular Toyota emblem

I’m going to get a Tech Stream and try to get it to initiate a Zero point calibration… hopefully that works. Welcome any techstream tips as well!!
