First off how the heck does one pronounce tonneau.

But more importantly, seems like the Lomax tri-fold is the current hotness? What are other popular options? I saw one on the toyota.com build and configure page, not sure if that was factory or third party. Waterproof is an absolute requirement for me.

my truck came with a Pace Edwards Full Metal Jacket aluminum rolling tonneau. i liked it, easy to use. lockable, very secure but bot completely water proof since it is made of many slats.

the rolling tonneaus have a canister at the front of the bed which take up space. not alot if you have a long bed.

But i'm more into shells, so i finally found one used that color-matched.

Awesome, thanks. Shell is viable too but my first truck had one and I have long wanted to try a basic cover. Assuming water stays out, that is!

I just installed a bakflip on my son’s truck today. Seems good - a few things about it that make me a bit irritated, and i guess that’s more on the instructions than anything but it seems to be a nice cover. I have a Toyota factory cover on my Tacoma - my son drives a (dare I say) Colorado.

Define water stays out. If you want waterproof, go buy a 4Runner.

But the Lomax/Bakflip/etc are generally water resistant. However some water will leak in during heavier rains.

Bought one of their covers this Memorial Day. Customer Service response no good. Will be returning. Shipped with broken lock, took a week and a half to get a replacement and then would not respond to requests for assistance on installation. Was excited about buying american and the features of this cover but.....getting a diamond back.

BTW at one local dealer I saw Toyota-branded tonneau covers. Are they any good? They sure seem cheap enough, guessing there is some reason people pay more for aftermarket.

Resistance to rain and locking security are my top criteria.
