It's less Tacoma and more mod
There's also places you can send yours for service and they'll cut it open and refurb it.

Not really. Just less people in general and less usage. Just wait untill you stumble upon you're first target range dump burn spot.

Assholes are everywhere. There just so happens to be only around 600,000 in the whole state of Wyoming vs millions in new York.

Plus plenty of out of state folks violate things without even a second thought.

Just got back from a great trip in the van and got cleaned up and some photos edited. We Started in Green River and camped along Moonshine Wash. Tried the slot canyon there but as expected, too big of a drop for the dogs to make. Shot out to Goblin Valley SP and found a nice spot overlooking the Swell. Up early to hike Little Wild Horse Canyon and down Bell Canyon. It is a really fun and not too demanding of a slot canyon hike, had to hoist the dogs up/down in several spots. From there we scampered out to Cedar Point overlooking the Dirty Devil River. Cool part was seeing the river crossing on Poison Springs Road that we've done, but this time from way up high. Wind was rough that night and the next morning the van was able to make it through some soft dunes to make our way down to Monument Valley, did the loop and went back to Valley of the Gods below the Mogi Dugway. There weren't a lot of campers around and we had a lovely site along the wash - trying to hide from any wind after the night before. We then cut north, through the snow of the Manti La Sals and eventually dropped into the lower section of Lockhart Basin to camp. From there we hit the Needles Overlook and swung into Moab for a burger and drinks at the brewery. Up the very steep Long Canyon and camped in a crowded BLM area by Lone Mesa and after breakfast at the Moab Diner, we decided we would return home, although a day earlier than expected. Overall, no drama and the dogs had a great time. Znuni did great, recall was good and showed her guard dog breed a few times which was great to see. Now to do chores and dread returning to the office.

Dang, we just missed each other! (And the new pup is getting BIG!!!)

Looking up at Cedar Point (where I take it you were camped at/near Muley Point from your route description?)

    upload_2023-5-6_12-34-36.jpg

There's still some "Wild" in the west ;) below the Moki Dugway.

    upload_2023-5-6_12-36-16.jpg

    Out to The Citadel.

    upload_2023-5-6_12-37-4.jpg

And finally headed to Natural Bridges...

(I'm sure Brett @BossFoss remembers the climb up from Sipapu, his knees were not loving it.)

    upload_2023-5-6_12-38-15.jpg

    ...by way of Bears Ears.

It's great therapy. Sitting out under the full moon at night in total silence was truly what I needed out there.
Ha! Similar places for sure. How long ago were you there? i noticed there were more washes with flowing water than i previously saw. Indian Creek for example was a good foot of water running through it.

This was the view to our north along the ridge to the water crossing on Poison Springs on the far left. I am sure you can find the place with a little looking on Google ;)

We didn't do Bears ears but we did cut through 95 and found some ancient ruins in Fry Canyon across from a potential camp site.

Was there a week ago for three days. I think I hiked something on the order of 15 miles/day into various canyons for rock art and ruins. Was super nice to get out to Utah again, having spent a lot of time in the Mojave/DV recently.

And YES - so much water everywhere, I was totally surprised by that and even ran into a BLM dude who was admiring it in the canyons as well. He mentioned that it was the first time he'd seen water in some of the canyons of Grand Gulch in nearly a decade!

Looks like you were successful! I want to sometime hike into Happy Canyon from poison springs but I feel that's too long for the family right now, especially with the water levels. It's on the to-do list for sure. How far out did you go out poison springs?

I mean to be fair, the new house is like camping all the time haha so quiet and peaceful and mountain views. So...can't complain toooo much. That and my place of work is so isolated too.

    But still miss it.

And Utah was at like 252% snow pack last I looks a few weeks back. So not surprised at all the water you saw.

It did seem like more than usual. Didn't seem like that much but I guess it just looked like how much snow I'm used to in Feb/March lol forgot it's may!

Yeah! Been here just over a month. Its awesome.

    PXL_20230507_030539491~2.jpg

Wish I could afford to do more stuff right now but just have to save.

Wish you were closer so I could borrow your rig to haul some dirt to do some landscaping  oh well. Will get to it.

Yeah it's crazy how much snow they got and Colorado and southern Wyoming. Spring snow here is normal but even now we only just had our first full week off over 65°. Been a slow start to spring round here. Grass just finally popped out green this week

Nice, we are currently adding onto our garage. Getting a little more space and giving us the option to expand the inside into the old garage down the road if we need too.

It was our first time for both. While MV is gorgeous and we did the loop down inside, it was still too touristy for me. Too many people and too many road side jewelery stands. We've checked it off the list but i am not sure i haver a ton of desire to go back. The best part was Kirsten was driving over Forest Gump Hill and a guy was running along side the roade and she yelled out "Run Forrest RUN!" at him

Valley of the Gods blew me away more. There were still a lot of campers near hwy 163 but near the Mogi side there were a lot of open places. I think being midweek helped us find camp in most places. I would love to go back and get a spot in the north end of the road and hike around a bit more. As it was we were setting up camp by 3 every day and it was heavenly, but with having Milo injured we didn't explore much beyond view of the van.

Yeah, hired out the concrete work, but am going to be doing the rest. Stripping the exterior of the house as well to do an update. Going to Zip sheet it this year and come up with a design for a next summer project.
