I have a bunch of reed switches, they're super useful. Could hide it behind an innocuous panel and carry a magnet on the keychain?

Yeah, it could be a lot of places. Stick it underside the truck somewhere even if you can't take it with you.

And magnets aren't real hard to find in a pinch. Those ones with the big plastic cap with all the connections in it seems like a great way to get stuck somewhere.

I don’t eat deer. Rats with antlers. She did bring home a fucking leg though, and it wasn’t rotten so I’m assuming she killed it somehow or maybe the deer got hit by a car. I just looked over her and there isn’t a scratch on her. I’m still perplexed how she got out there are no holes in the fence unless she brut-forced herself through the gate lol, even that doesn’t really make sense

@Kwikvette These are some of my worst welds ever, like almost @BartMaster1234 level.

Thunderstorm was coming in, couldn’t figure out if it was best to attach the ground cable on the flange closest or the heat shield tab, and never got comfortable. Oh and wire speed and heat were set far too high at first and I blew a hole in the pipe, which I was thankfully able to repair. Warped the edges of the O2 bung a bit but hopefully it works.

Worst case I just buy a whole new cat.

    4 run, 2 don't
    No worries!

I know you rarely post any welding here, which just tells me you don't do it enough to get much practice in.

As long as it'll hold, and it looks like it will!

Some advice; the ground clamp doesn't have to be as "close as possible" but you do want a good ground between the part being welded and the clamp itself. Best spot would've been attached to the exhaust to the right (in your pic) but only after having knocked off the rust there. Alternatively, if you had a wire wheel you could've knocked off the rust on the tab to the left and attach it there.

The flange doesn't look like it received any beveling; for the best penetration (in this case, it's no big deal but for future projects) bevel the edge all the way around. This creates a pocket for weld metal to fill for the best fusion possible.

Again, your setup will absolutely hold but I can tell you your settings look both cold and like you've got too much wire speed. Also looks like you were completely uncomfortable when you laid those beads down.

What I learned from experienced welders is always ensure you establish your ABC's = Always Be Comfortable.
