That's what the Versys is for!

Plus I'd still have the truck.

Putting the Rabaconda to use on a friend's R1200GS. He bought the extended duck head and BMW adapter for me so I'm mounting the tires for free.

That dude is nuts. Added skis to the back of his bike and surfed it. You read that right- he went surfing with a dirt bike.

Back safely from our Southeast OH weekend. Roughly 45 FJR owners or former owners now on other stuff got together to socialize, ride, and generally have a good time.
    Trip meter since Thursday morning.

Managed to get 73 more murals this weekend including the rest of the Lincoln Highway series across PA

Thinking you add a tank bag and maybe a tail bag...thus making it practical for commuting.

It would be a fun bike only, I have the Versys for long distance/commuting and Navi for around town trips.

Wrestled the Road 6 onto the back of my friend's GS. Front will be done (hopefully) tomorrow. I'm really trying not to ride the bike but I also want to make sure the balance is fine.

Would he mind if you rode it a little to be sure? IDK about you, but I wouldn't mind somebody I trust scrubbing in new tires a bit.

He keeps insisting that I ride it but I don't want to catch the GS bug and do something dumb. :anonymous:

I'm really happy with my Versys and want to keep it that way.

Ah, that makes total sense! If you want to avoid the temptation, you're doing it right. I never would have bought a Taco until I drove my buddy's.

My friend got an SV650 as his first bike, and then a few months later test rode an RS 660 "for fun" and got the bug and bought the bike.

IGNORANCE IS BLISS! trust me on that.

Also... Japanese ease of maintenance and reliability > than exotic IMO.

Yup. Totally understand that. I never had a motorcycle until I was over 25. Bought my brother's to help him get out from under it. Had always thought they were neat, but was raised that they're a death machine out to murder you, so never rode one. Rode that bike once and I was hooked. Regretted getting rid of it and not having one for years, and had to get another. I imagine the same thing would happen if I rode something that was an "upgrade" of my current bike as well. Slippery slope. lol

For you people that have been in and around the north west of California.

Any recommendations as far as rides in and around this area pictured? Looking mainly for street rides or mild fire roads. Ill be on my super tenere for a few days in the area camping around Weaverville before a house boat trip at Shasta. I plan to at the very least a ride out and back to shelter cove on the coast (as I didnt get to do that on my "coast home ride"). But didn't know if there was anything else that was an absolute need to see / ride in the area while I'm there. I rode hwy 101 / lost coast route / hwy 1 south on my ride home from Oregon when I picked up the super tenere a few months ago so I have those under my belt but there seems to be SOOOOO MUCH in that coastal range to ride that I'm like a lab given 100 tennis balls and don't know what to do with them all!.

I took 101 up from Bay Area and took 36 -> Platina Road to Redding. It was a beautiful ride, 10/10 would recommend.

Worked at a Duc shop years back. Theyre not bad to work on (I actually enjoy it) and we had about a dozen customers with over 100k miles on theirs running around but the stupid assed proprietary bs and locking everything so it can only be unlocked at a ‘certified Ducati service center’ by plugging the DDS in is bullshit.
I had to have the dealer ‘unlock’ the heated grips that were already programmed in it ffs. Cant shut my service light off either without going to a ‘certified Ducati service center’.. welp this little light of mine, im gonna let it shine!

That's enough to piss off the Pope. I hate that kind of crap. Even if they unlock/clear it for free, it's a hassle to go in for it.
