It’s been quite the maintenance day. I’ve got another race tomorrow so started going through the damage from the stoopid 50. Surprisingly the rear brake was fine, front pads not so much. Swapped the front out with newish pads and put the mtx gold with hs2 on the rear. Now to bed them in. In the process I decided it was a nice day so let’s work outside, goodbye one c clip and one pad bolt haha. I took the front pad off to sand it down a bit…reinstalling it I broke a trail one titanium bolt torquing it to spec with a park tool torque wrench. I guess I’m back to steel bolts front and rear.

anyways, do you guys think a cotter pin will suffice until I get a new bolt for the pads?

I think you will be ok with a cotter pin for a bit.

Also if you don’t win your class you have a good excuse. Those steel bolts are heavy. :p

Anyone ever boil their brakes.. It takes a lot of effort to go this slow and it happened today for the first time ever. Shimano Saints btw.

Got a long time friend out today. We started riding together about 20 years ago, but he’s been out of the game for a while.
    Was a great day.

Anyone use the Park Tools chain degreaser? Instructions say it just needs to air dry but it is leaving a film that makes me think I need to rinse it

Nope, probably never going to happen on the stuff I ride! I wonder is SRAMs with the DOT fluid would have had the same issue.

you’ll never make DOT fluid boil, however if it’s been a while since you’ve bled the brakes and they’ve got water absorbed then the water in the hoses will boil.

Can’t comment on the Park Tools degreaser, so can’t help you there. I’ve used the White Lightning no rinse degreaser and can confirm you don’t need to rinse. Spray it on, agitate with a brush, spray again and let dry.

Cool, looks like a pretty similar product and the sanity check is good lol. I thought twice about rinsing the chain and figured I should just stick to following instructions. I let it dry and applied some fresh Muc-off dry lube. Smells like banana candy now :D

Bike is tuned up now I just need to get out of the neighborhood and touch dirt when I can :D

No, it sure wasn't. I rode past the house and the neighbors are still in their homes... One of them has a Shelby Cobra, still in the garage.

Anyone know if Shimano sells this part for their SPD pedals?

I wondered all race why I was coming unclipped so much. Not sure when this happened, because they took an absolute beating during my 3 practice runs early and during the beginning of race.
