The what happens. You report it. You get it fixed? For free? Right then?

Nope. Never said any such thing. Just said that the way to use the Act is to report the violation and go elsewhere. Enough reports get filed, investigated, and it may change things in the future.

    Dont believe me? call Toyota.

if its a sticky its also wrong. Dont shoot the messenger.

This doomsday scenario is not realistic. Wheres the part where the asteroid hits. The particular dealer doesnt want the liability and reduced paycheck for warranty work. I went through it firsthand with steelie wheels. I won by having toyota corporate on the phone while i had the service manager try to explain how my wheels caused a transmission issue. His story flipped on the spot and boom got a fix and 2 yrs free oil changes goodwill. OP, call corporate and flat out ask them if in doubt. No suing or any of that nonsense necessary. Just find another dealer.

If using logic above any tacoma purchased without OEM wheels would have zero warranty for driveline issues. “Mod in the same area” is not how it works, need empirical proof not a hunch to definitively deny. How many times can i say “wrong” in one reply.

Maybe their hunch that it could possibly remotely be associated with a wheel mod is the impetus for them not even wanting to touch it, knowing they could very well be wrong and then on the hook for repair but thats not the same thing as a full denial by toyota. If they find a driveline problem and cannot objectively connect it to your wheels then youre g2g. Big difference then saying “we found that your wheels caused this issue”

Meaningless. Toyota has lawyers on staff that have nothing better to do then handle things like this. You still have the same issue as before, unless there is substantiating evidence to back up the violation report then there is literally nothing you can do. That's like going to the local magistrate and saying you saw someone speeding on some road, you still have to prove it.

I had my warranty claim rejected for having OEM trd offroad wheels and tires on a SR. And that was even from corporate.

technically, the warranty is via toyota corporate, on a product they manufacture. the dealer is a middleman selling that product, and reimbursed by toyota corporate for servicing warranty claims. so yes, toyota corporate could absolutely deny the warranty. you'd then need to discuss an amicable solution with the dealer higher-up's.

Something I learned from some warranty claims is that corporate grades dealers based on the number of claims and the more you have the worse rating you can get. I found this out when I brought my truck in for 3 different things and he said they can only look at one warranty item per month and I would have to come back for the other two.

I called the service manager who explained that the rationale was based on the ratings corporate give them for claims numbers but said his team should never push them out like that. In the end they serviced all three.

Years back I bought my wife a Dodge Neon, I know I know, but anyway the battery shorted out under the hood twice and then the third time. The dealer said it wasn't covered, third time, because of a stereo we installed. I said "OK." I had Tuesdays Thursdays something like that off back then. I parked the car on the street in front to the dealer, raised the hood and sat in a lawn chair opening to, my intent, closing. Anyways about 10am and someone comes out and ask if I need help. "Nope, just here to tell folk about the great service I receive here." About 10:45am and the wife's Neon is around back and I am waiting for a rental car. Not saying this is the way it works now a days...

The dealer I work for would have your car towed. I don’t recommend this move.

High pitched noise when hitting the brakes under 5mph sounds like the drum shoes rubbing on the contact plate. Basically, remove rear drums, clean and apply a dab of brake grease or anti-seize where the sides of the drum shoes contact the backing plates.

Do you have a local off-road shop, maybe a trust worthy tire and brake center you could get a second opinion from?

I was on the city street in front of the dealer lot. i am guessing you would have a difficult time having a tow service carry out that task.

I wouldn’t carry out anything I’m just a tech but dealership people are the biggest douche bags I have ever worked for in my life. I can’t imagine doing something like this would get any kind of positive outcome

Oh they are well aware of the definition I promise. I am pretty sure they go home and jerk off thinking about how much money they take out of peoples pockets.

Is it possible this issue started after installation of a new front differential? I have the appointment tomorrow so we'll see.

This is reality. Basically MM is toothless .As @Chew said, warranty is only as good as the dealer.

Took my then new trd pro to the local dealer tocheck the allignment and it was like they never saw a trd pro. Kept asking if this and that were stock..

Sometimes you just have to wonder about the service writers concept of what toyota sells.

While waiting though they told EVERY female that their battery was on its last leg and winter was soon upon us. Gladly the majority declined. Never nent back there again
