The shop I was at shut down a couple years after I left so thats out. I know the guys at SeaCoast in NH, they said they’d shut it off for me but I have to drive three hours round trip for it which is fn stupid.

Yeah, definitely not worth it. Maybe if you are going for a ride that way anyway, but not a special trip all on it's own. Have you checked bike forums to see if anyone has found a workaround/hack to get past the lock out?

A what now? A "twidget"? I've not heard that one before. Same way here, but I can't even call myself a mechanic.

I purchased my triumph bonneville in December, ordered a givi rear rack for it in January, gues what it doesn't fit. I can't return it because it's been to long. It said 2016 and up. So hears the problem, it's supposed to bolt to the inside of the frame at the shock mounts, not even close. So I scratch my head and try to figure out my options, scrap it and just buy something else? No, I like the rack size and it's built really stout. So I figured that if I cut the mounting brackets off the inside of the rack and welded them to the outside that it should work. And it did! So I have it all fabbed up and now I just need to drop it off at the powder coater.20230508_063248.jpg

20230508_063221.jpg now if I can just get a short day to drop it off after work

Well if your going to own modern Euro bikes or cars and want to service it yourself you have to become a twidget. LOL I just sold my BMW car and it wasnt too bad. Had to push buttons and stalks in a certain sequence to access a service menu. Theres always a way they just keep making it more difficult was does suck but forums and YT will get you there.

Triumph pulled that too on my Tiger, but thankfully can be defeated with a specific addon OBD2 reader from a 3rd party. At least on my KTM, despite all the other customer service wonkiness, could have the service light disabled with a series of button presses like a taco.

I forget if I posted this here, but is anyone interested in a Beeline Moto navigation device by any chance? I bought it for ~$300 with the upgraded mount and am willing to sell for ~$150 shipped. It is the gunmetal grey metal version.

I did think about that for a minute, lol. But I've got a local guy that will do it cheap enough. I'll tell him just add it to the rest of your stuff when you run some black. He does production work as well as walk ins.
    Cash is king!

I miss working for a place that did in house paint and powdercoat. Who's to say there wasn't some idle capacity that got traded for some beer every once in a while.

Getting faster with the Rabaconda, front wheel took ~1hr from the start of removing the front wheel off the bike to putting it back on.

    Tomorrow!

As much as I might like it, this is the closest I'll come to owning one.

Welp worse than i expected lol.

It's a BMW S1000RR, 2014. Turns out the stator was toast. Battery is apparently still OEM so stunning that it lasted this long lol. But because the stator went bad, looks like the rectifier got fried too. Looking at just over $1k to fix it all up, hopefully have the bike back by the end of the week.

Looks like imma have to put my dirtbike aspirations on hold.

Funny thing is, when I bought the bike (35k miles) I figured the stator was gonna need replacing at some point. Silly me didn't do it proactively of course, and didn't realize it'd ruin the rectifier once it goes. Live and learn....I'm just looking forward to getting back on the bike.
