Alright, I putzed the week away until I had to do the "plumbing wall" in the utility room. I have no memory of that panel, except that I put it on so that I could get to pipes in an "emergency". Heck, I wasn't sure there was really even a trap on that drain. So, did some reading, steeled myself, and today was the day. All I really want to KNOW is if I have a leak in there; but I have no idea what I may or may not need to do!

You can see two boxes - as there are two drains. I start to remember; the original water softener guys had a drain that would not share the pipe with the big washer hose, and they told me that "someone" would need to plumb in the second. This has to be like 30-ish years ago, as the wife demanded soft water right after we moved in.

Good news, is that there IS a trap. And, there is NO SIGN of the water leak being in the pipes. (It was overflowing the top of the drains, behind the box covers when it was clogged.
A more modern (and somewhat plumbing experienced me) comes to believe that you can't have 2 drain pipes that way. Maybe at the top, but not that Y. I found no examples. So, I cut the pipe, and capped it off.

Poured another gallon of Drano down the pipe, waited, hot water flush - no leaks. Put the panel back on, got the dryer duct sealed back up, and inserted a water alarm sensor down the pipe tied to the softener drain. Both "new" hoses happily share that pipe nowadays.

I was thawing a thick New York to make fancy fajitas, but I'm not cooking - I did plumbing! Sounds like a Loop n Lil's pizza to me.

:rain:Morning Linwood, Good Morning SA! Wetter this morning than from any of the big storms we didn't get, and no official rain. Just a ton of humid on the ground. Too tired this AM to get to a too wet car show. Looks like a day off.
