Yep! I’ve been there twice now. Once just to off-road, and the other to off-road & camp overnight.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Out today checking to see where the snow starts on local mountains here. Made it about 20km up the mountain then hit deep wet springtime snow. No go.

Got in a nice hike, just bushwhacking up the mountainside. No trails. Hiking up that ridge with the high cliff. I ran into a young black bear and I figured momma was not far off so I just watched him eat and took a different angle up.

A really pleasant day, but for my high elevation small fishing lakes it looks like end of May before I will be able to access them.

    Really beautiful country.

What tires are those? Should not blow a tire from the rocks seen in that picture. I will drive far worse roads 30 - 40 trips per year and never blow a ride after I went 10 ply with the KO2s. Blew 2 of the crapola stock Goodyear wranglers on the same day on sharp rocks. The KO2s have no issue with brutal scraping on sidewalls and driving sharp shale roads. I am on my second set of KO2s now.

This is one of my roads to a remote fishing lake. Takes me about 1.5 hours to drive just over 1 mile. A lot of stopping for clearance checking, and a lot of bottom bouncing in deep wallows where you cannot see the boulders under the water. I am going there again in June, I think I am nuts…

I fiercely hate that road, but love having the fishing to myself. The KO2s have yet to fail. Of course there are many other tires just as suitable that can stand up to regular abuse on sharp rocks.

So the picture shows the relatively flat spot I drove to (about 100 ft from where the "incident" happened) If you look at the front of my slider you will see a scraped spot that is actually about a 1/2" deep dent in it. I bounced sideways and hit pretty hard into some large sharp rocks that got both the slider and my tire.

As for the tires they are Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT (load range E) in 235/85/16. I like them a lot. Like I said in my original post. I went down a section of trail I shouldn't have. Was steep with large, sharp boulders and almost continuous ruts 3 feet deep. And the worst of it was I still had about half a mile more that turned out to be almost just as bad. Could have taken an alternate route but didn't think it would be any where near as bad as it was and once I started I was stuck going forward. Looked like it hadn't been used in years.

Load range E is what you need and what you have, so just bad luck. It can happen.

Fun day, before this I slammed down on a rock, took my bumper cover off and dented my front cross member. I forgot that rocks get slick in the rain

Sounds like a great excuse for a steel bumper. Win win.

It’s been warming up in WA state so decided to drive some forest service roads to see how high I could get made it to 4900ft after a couple hundred yards of packed slush I turned around. That stuff was nasty airing down, rear locker, ATRAC didn’t help even tried chains with little luck. Was still nice drive up to that point.

Permit me to dream a little. :)

The snow still blocking access to my small remote fishing lakes.

Hope to be on this trail by mid June, to this spot at a favorite lake of mine. I have fished this one for the past 35 years now, a total of 16 trips over that time. Only twice has there been another person at this lake.

My first for real fishing trip of the season will be early June, to a couple of different remote lakes in the Lac Le Jeune area. Hopefully I have those ones to myself. Normally that is the case.

My version of a wet dream...

Out burning more fuel today. Tank was full, so it was necessary to shed some of it to maintain a healthy balance.
