I'm friends with 2 Ford techs. Both tell me the 7.3 is great and the 6.0 is a piece of crap.

im a ford tech and the 6.0 has issues for sure. maint is key to them, fuel filters every lof will help with injector issues. they really are not to bad if you get rid of the egr cooler. i would stay away from the 6.4 it is even worse than the 6.0. if you want an older one a 7.3 is a great engine.

Its just that a dodge crew cab has a super tiny cab for people in the back seats..

'04 Dodge Cummins & TRD OR DubCab, yo!
    265-75R16 BFG A/T's and US-SPEC iPod adapter :[
I have an '04 Dodge Cummins with 250k miles that I use for work, and it has been pretty damn great to us. Since we got it in '06 with 90k miles, we put on 160k miles since then, and the only troubles we had was a busted fuel pump, which was a pain but not too bad.

Unfortunately, it seems to be on it's last legs now, as pistons have blown on it, but with all due respect, this truck had 250k miles put on it in about 5-6 years and all that time we beat it up towing 15k+ goosenecks on it all the time, so it has been worked HARD!

Also, the tranny was a weak point for us aswell. It never blew or gave out, it's just that it has this annoying habit to go from 1st gear to Neutral then shift to 2nd gear. Apparently, there is a TSB for this that would cure it, but we never got it and by now the tranny prolly learned the habit to shift like that. Makes for an annoyance if you want to step on it from a stop, or say when you wanna merge. It can be scary sometimes.

Other than that, one helluva beast of a truck that never let us down. And the backseats aren't that bad, I've had many roadtrips with it with friends in the back and they never complained.

Go 7.3 or "5.9 cummins" the 6.0 is complete shit, you will have more money into it then its worth.
