All degreasers should be rinsed even if it says they don't. You don't want to leave on the stuff that cleans the oil off.... and then oil it.

Use either water, acetone, or denatured alcohol.

are they the same amongst all pedals? I would think they are otherwise clipping and unclipping would be different?

Some parts vary across the pedals. I bought a really cheap set, figuring I could steal parts and the engagement plates were just different enough where they wouldn’t swap over.

I can take some photos, I had a slightly different issue, if you can use some of the parts, I’m happy to send them over. I broke the other piece on mine, the piece still shown in your photo.

Those are the part numbers. In theory they're sold separately. Just depends if you can find them.

Thanks, but that’s not what’s broken on mine unless I’m looking at it wrong. Mine is the one with the adjustment screw broken.

That would be awesome, I reached out to Shimano and waiting on a response.

I like shimano pedals, but I'll be switching if this isn't replaceable.

Looks like I need a second cup of coffee. Ha. Wrong part. There is no part number for the broken piece. It's part of the actual pedal body. You may be SOL for that one.

It's not apart of the body, it's still bolted on I believe, have to check when I get home for sure.

If they don't sell me that part separate I'm gonna have to be anti shimano for sure. XTR pedals are not cheap.

    New bike day!

I had been looking at a Stumpjumper Alloy or a Status 160 for a few weeks since Specialized is having a decent sale, but just couldn't commit because the colors I wanted were out of stock in XL.

So, as per usual, I was scrolling FB Marketplace over the weekend and found an ad for a brand new Giant Trance X 3 in XL. The guy was only an hour from me so I figured I'd check it out. He had it listed as the Trance X 2 which is a better spec, but still a heck of a deal for a "new" bike.

The guy bought it, rode it out of the store to his truck, rode it from his truck to his garage, and then found out all his buddies had bought E-bikes. So it is actually 100% showroom new.

Through some shrewd negotiation I scored it for $1,550. He had even had the bike shop install some OneUp aluminum pedals that were included with the bike. Still surprised he accepted my offer, but cash in hand is a big motivator. It also hadn't even been registered for the warranty, so I got it registered with Giant in my name. Win-win.

Swapped over my carbon bars, a few Wolf Tooth components, and an Ergon saddle from my D6 and now have it listed for sale. The D6 is a large and at 6'4 I had really been wanting to try out an XL, so I think it'll be a nice upgrade.

It's a part of the pedal body assembly I mean. So there's no part number for it likely because it's not a particularly "user servicable" part. You'll have to fight the two tension spring to remove the old part and install the new part.

Do-able with the right (as in likely jury-rigged) tools but probably with a spare part from other broken pedals.

I rode down in Canon City to preride the 12 hour relay race I'm doing with some guys. Pre ride went great, got sun burnt, sessioned a couple things, had a bed full of bikes (first time fully loaded. anyone fit 6 bikes in their bed?).

We stopped at a little jump learning area on the way out. the green line wasn't bad, but the blue line had some steep take offs. One of the guys in our group fell and broke his collarbone on the right side :(

In all honestly it happened at the most ideal place, 30 feet from the cars and at the end of the day. Really sucks it happened.

It also made me double check i had my health insurance information in my wallet (i didnt).

    Be safe out there

What’s the general consensus about replacing a steerer tube? One local shop told me it can’t be done, have to buy the crown/steerer/upper assembly and swap the lowers over. Another shop put me to a suspension guy who has it listed as a typical service. Shop who recommended this guy is very big and arguably the best in the area. SRAM only offers to sell you the upper complete. Is this something that’s safe to do?

I've never heard of a shop replacing just the "steer tube", but swapping CSU's is normal practice - especially in a bike shop that wouldn't have a large press like that around. I've heard of people sending forks back to manufacturer to get steer tubes swapped.

SRAM’s only solution was to buy the CSU and have it swapped.

on the inter webs, it’s possible and there are critics on either side it would seem. This suspension guy does it, has it listed as a service on his website even.

Been getting in some more time on my Evo. New stem is nice. But in general, I think this
bike fits me so much better than my '16. I just felt like that thing was so twitchy. The newer geo just seems to be more my style. And I can still climb just fine (for my skill. Climbing is not me best area.) No big sending yet but I have had some fun on some fast areas and a few smaller jumps. Hopefully soon though.

So I'm looking at Transition Sentinel, Sb150, and Megatower for my next bike and kinda just seeing what I can find for a good deal. Would be alright with a stumpy evo depending on price and spec.

Those of you who have bought through pinkbike, how'd it go? I'm seeing a deal on a sb150 t1 build that really looks too good to be true. Lot of decent deals for Sentinel Carbon x01 builds though.

Once I sell this dirtbike its time. been waiting long enough to upgrade MTB dont know why I even bothered with the dirtbike for a bit

Edit: any other bikes in the 29er 150-160 rear travel aggro trail bike/more playful enduro? New Capra would be nice but 170 is a bit much. But damn those YT bikes spec well for new bikes

I would go with whatever you have the most confidence in, and what makes the most sense financially. If its just creaking or if its too short, it might be easier to sell and buy another fork.
