Every time I pull the drain plug on anything in my driveway the wind starts blowing so I usually like to keep some cardboard around to put under my drain pan.

It's the best way, IMHO. Not only because warm oil drains more quickly and more thoroughly. Just as importantly, contaminants are suspended in the old oil instead of settled into the bottom of a cold pan.

I generally open my Fumoto valve (engine hot or cold) and let the oil drain overnight, Next morning, close valve, change filter, add oil. I also use a drain pan as pic'd above.

I’ve changed mine hot multiple times, and cold multiple times. I stick with changing it semi-cold now (the running for a few minutes to park it in the driveway).

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Damn. Soon to be in the “remember when” section. Future repair facilities will have to display this warning sign, maybe 56AC815D-5A81-4A54-B95F-597F6C5D8C34.jpg

I put a Fumoto on mine recently and my wife’s caddy as well. Love them, makes it a breeze

EVERY time. The joke with my friends when someone asks what I did today, I say it was windy, which means I changed my oil. I’ve tried many things. Put the drain pan on top of a box. Lay cardboard under the drain pan. Make cardboard wind blockers. Jack it back down onto the drain pan. Still, the wind blows the drips all over. Last time I added the fumoto & hose kit. I think I finally got it beat.

Never had that happen on my 07 rather it's been hot or cold while I drained the oil.
