1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels
Just a crankcase vent\breather. I don't think it comes out of the valve cover tbh. But I guess I've never really tried to remove it. I run both the PCV and that crankcase breather to a catch can with no issues.

It really doesn't make sense that there is a separate breather along with the PCV. PCV is a check valve and the breather is not...so why have a check valve?

If you pull the valve cover and flip it over you can tell right away that it's just a vent. It also has a line that should(?) Go to the throttle body\intake manifold. But it's been so long I can't remember. I've had a turbo and catch can for like 11 years. Lol

Thanks, the size of its vent hole would be interesting in comparison to the PCV valve. It definitely doesn't want to budge. I haven't pulled the valve cover in years on this engine.

    That's the cross ventilation.......

one of the reason the toyota 4 bangers last forever.....
engineers designed that.......they vent off those corrosive blow back combustion gases....

If you defeat that.....you destroy the engine much faster.......

If you think organic solvents are corrosive.....see what they can do at 400F.....

The one your talking about is just an elbow.....you'd only replace if you broke it...
its the other end of valve cover........its the pcv that has to be checked and cleaned every so often.....
and its made out hard steel parts......so almost lasts forever....

usally only failure.....is that pcv grommet in the pre 2001 models....
    splits and leaks.....in secret.......

eventually crumples and falls into the head......
while its top looks completely normal.....

Of course all the parts stores carry both parts......and grommet....

An old grommet can require two needle nose and maybe even a hemostat for fishing .......and warm engine.....

Is there a reason why you're trying to remove it?

I have a catch can on my truck as well. You don't need to remove the barb because you can use it for the hose that would go to the catch can.

You have any pictures of how it’s mounted and plumbed? I’m going to replace my IAC in the coming days and thought about doing this once and for all. Been putting it off for a while.

Just the 2 valve cover vents to a cheap eBay catch can that is vented to atmosphere. No recirc here. Been this way for the better part of 10 years now.
