fox 2.5 DSC issues?

So I watched this video:

and turns out the fox 2.5 are not good and based on that video, it shows it being extremely rough and just not good for on road and off road..

I recently installed fox 2.5 DSC with Camburg UCA with a OME leaf pack (medium) and durobumps and I Did notice some bumpiness but I was expecting it because its firmer than the stock suspension...

Does anyone have similar experience with fox 2.5? if you watch the video you can see what they are talking bout. Kind of wish I went with kings or something else.

 

Are they off the shelf or did you have the shim stack tuned?

 

no it is not tuned..I got it installed at the shop by a very reputable place as well.. Its just the fox 2.5 dSC out the box.. no shims or tune..

I am just surpsised at the video and how such an expensive and reputable company like fox got the lowest rating. I was wondering if anyone out there agrees with the video on the fox suspension... Honestly Before watching that video... I loved it.. AS I mentioned before..sometimes it is a little too stiff for me (DSC is completely open to softest setting) but its not back breaking..

after watching the video.. I am kind of regretting the fox decision I made. and I just wanted to see if anyone out there feels the same?

 

Dude, it's one opinion. And who knows if it's a paid opinion.

I run Fox, have no regrets I run Fox. The only other option I would consider is ADS... but if I'm paying for shocks, I'm paying for Fox.

 

You might have someone in the area that can tune them for you without is being super expensive. Might be cheaper than selling and buying something else.

Just like what @El Taco Diablo said, it's all subjective. You liked your setup before watching that vid so don't be bothered by their opinion.

 

As much as I love the forum and platforms like YouTube etc.... if you drink to much of the kool-aid, you will regret every life decision you've ever made.

Fox makes a good product. You bought a Fox product. Enjoy it and don't over think it.

 

You can always do Accutune whenever. They’re located in El Cajon. I believe it’s $650 for a tune for all shocks

 

ya dude ur probably right.. only thing I didn't like before watching the video was the rough ride on the road.. I mean.. as long as the roads are newly paved, its good.. but in some areas its pretty bad.

 

ya they want around 120 a shock from what I remember for the tune..but they want me to take it off and bring them in.. Thats the hard part.. I need a shop that can take them off the truck.. tune them.. and re install them.

 

I went from 5100s to Icon to Fox and have noticed an improvement in ride quality every time. Like others have said, ride quality is subjective and what might be better to some might not be for others.

 

I just watched PART of the video... Because I couldn't justify to myself why watching the whole thing was worth it.

Literally... The whole video is two idiots telling you completely subjective opinions based on zero evidence.

Just because someone has a YouTube Channel, doesn't make them an expert. I have a YouTube Channel, I'm definately not an expert.

But I have experience... and I have completely blown Icon coilovers to pieces. Conversely... I have put Fox coilovers through WAY more abuse than those Icons... and they still keep asking for more.

Anyone who says Icon is better than Fox, in any way, shape, manner, or form, doesn't know what they are talking about. It's really just that simple.

 

yea I got the fox 2.5 dsc.. Im not sure about the travel..but its not the extended travel im sure.. but the shop that installed them said I would get 3 inch out of it and it seems like I did... maybe they should have only cranked its o about 2.5 inch... but the front would be so much lower than the rear... the rear is already higher

 

Ya I felt like that too.. im not educated on this stuff too much. this is my first truck and first off road vehicle ... I just bought the truck 2 months ago.. so I really just go off what I se online.. which probably isn't the best thing to do haha

 

That test didn't include any shocks with DSC or single adjustability (King). They were all non adjustable shocks. I've got Fox Elite 2.5's and those weren't included in any of the tests either. King has a lot of positive feedback, but the Fox Elite has some advantages which Accutune's website explains in detail. You can always have your shocks re-valved for your specific application.

ive always thought the spring rate made up for 90% of the ride and the other 10% was shocks. for instance i put deaver springs on the back. rode better than factory. replaced rear shocks with fox and couldnt tell a difference. wouldnt you get a lot different ride replacing the springs oppose to tuning.

I installed the 2.5 all around at the same time these got installed so I don't know if its the leaf springs causing the issue.. I also don't have any weight on my truck bed at all.. and this is a medium duty one so maybe with a few hundred pounds in there, I would have a better ride?

it says to carry a constant 0-300 lb (which is me) its required to remove the third leaf... and if I had a constant 300+ pounds to keep the leaf.. and more than 600lb to add a leaf..

So maybe I should have had the 3rd leaf removed.. anyone know if that would make any difference?
