Hi all, my 2nd gen Tacoma is having body work done from a fender bender over the winter. The body shop is waiting on this part https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/...ing-Molding-Pad-Front/3989112/5385304040.html but apparently it is backordered and out of stock in the entire US. I found a third party auto parts supplier that said they had it online, they notified me today they do not and cancelled my order. The shop does not want to release my truck without it being fully assembled and there is no estimate of when it will be in stock... I'm going on 7 weeks now without my truck, which has been frustrating.

The shop said the pad liner will prevent paint damage from the fender flare on the quarter panel. I'm wondering if I should just ask them to assemble everything but the flare and either leave it off until I can get the pad or see if I can use some weather stripping or aftermarket 3m fender moulding for it until it's available? Any solid advice would be greatly appreciated.

See if they will leave the flare off and let you take the truck. Get a note in writing that they will supply and potentially install the liner and flare when the part comes in.
