traction control got me stuck

when going through some mud for the first time in my new tacoma it stopped accelerating and stopped in the middle of the mud, i believe the traction control system did this. how do i fix this problem?

 

turn the traction control off with the little button beside the steering wheel? RTFM?

 

press the traction control button to turn it off

 

i was in four wheel drive it wont turn off unless its in two wheel drive this is the problem

Traction control will not stop the vehicle unless somehow both side lock up. Sounds like somethings wrong. In all seriousness give it gas next time because it works more effectively

 

the traction control will start beeping and the little traction light will come on. did any of this happen? if it did indeed then when you push the traction button it turns off the traction and the auto lsd on. if you just hold down the traction fro 3-4 sec it turns all the computer stuff off and lets you enjoy 4wd to the fullest

Not really 4wd to the fullest. If you look closely you will see that most 4x4 vehicles only utilize one front and one rear wheel. Sometimes another might join but it is often too late. Traction control is nice because you have another wheel spinning

 

so when in 4 wheel drive hold button for a few seconds and it will turn off?

 

Do you have a manual ?

wow dude that sucks. 1 st gen wouldn't have any problem. and how deep was the mud? how come you were in 4wd? im not trying to be a dick but i've gone through 3 feet of water and clay mud in 2wd. next time try 2wd and if you get stuck then turn on the 4wd or locker. just my 2 cents

 

^ not deep mud just sloppy i still have stock tires so thats the reason it wouldnt get out

 

oh well just get your self some BFG mudders. for 33's they are only $180-200 per tire.

 

He put it in 4wd because he has it and that's what it's for.

 

There is this hing called the skinny pedal and I sugest using it.
