    @TacoMTga - Sorry, I'm meant Crown/RX 500 FWD-based HybridMAX powertrain. I'd imagine the Tacoma would have the Tundra/Sequoia's 10-speed RWD-based system.

Also is anyone overjoyed at the Ranger? I know payload & the power seem nice but I ain't caring much for the looks. DCSB only, and it looks the integrated bed steps are optional which is a bit nuts. Still looking up info as well. Center stack looks ok, but the rest of the interior seems lacking. Maybe I'm full of it.
So far, the Colorado/Canyon looks way better than Ranger.

That would keep in a Tacoma rather than stepping up to a Tundra. Love my 3G for daily stuff, loaded down and towing not so much, current drivetrain seems very sensitive to the slightest change.

Just having peak torque available at a lower rpm would improve things greatly. It is a shame that payload has decreased with each new Gen, my 1G is 1600 lbs. My 3G is 1100.

meh, no extra cab long bed, deal breaker. Might of swayed me over, however not available in the cab figuration that I like. Interior looks good, don’t care for the orientation of the informant screen, plus it is a Ford. Even the CEO admits quality is lacking and will take years to fix.

Good point, and I really won't hold my breath for payload improvement...since the new Ranger has better payload than the Tundra..lol...I am guess the Tacoma will see another rendition of 950-1100 lbs for a 4x4.

Man, I hope you are wrong here. I saw everything from 1400 to 1700 lbs on the Ranger videos, it'd be nice for Toyota to be somewhat competitive here.

Payload has been one of my top 3 concerns since I use my truck for work and tow a ton.

Wouldn’t be a deal breaker if it didn’t increase. Was all hot for having a camper on it, but after doing that with my 1G, found I do not care for having the camper attached the truck. Every time I would set it up, would want to go somewhere. Moving to a trailer so a can drop it, and use the truck to run around. Like to base camp, then go explore the area, fishing, swimming holes, trails, etc. Why I have been looking at Tundras, something that towed better. I dont go too crazy with a camp trailer, like to keep things compact, so the new Turbo 4 might be the cats meow.

Right!...even if you don't work in them, and only play, the payload gets sucked up by a good load out for a few weeks camping and exploring. And it sure would be nice to be able to hook up a trailer with more than 2-300 lbs tongue weight without eating thru your payload with a couple of buddies and a cooler of beer in the back...lol

Funny how people complain about the DCSB only in other makes, but if you want a TRD Pro that’s how it will be built.

How has owner-reported Tundra Gen 3 gas mileage compared to published figures?

The MotorTrend article I saw hinted that the SuperCab (extend, 6ft bed) is still coming, just not in the initial release.

That's another reason to wait until G4.2.

Think it is too early to tell. Need at least 100K miles on thousands upon thousands of vehicles to get enough data.

After reading some these comments on Tacoma's payload (Tundra as well), I'm glad I'm not the only that is somewhat disappointed by lack of workability.

I'd love to one in person. I would to see a comeback, although that probably never happen.

It hurts in a way. Of course I wasn't around when the 1-Ton was. Kinda sad what offered years ago with less technology available compared to now.

That looks nice. Nice parking job too. Touching the car in front and still covering five feet of red curb.

That announcement just seemed to cover all U.S. time zones. I don't think it was meant to say it will me a reveal in Hawaii. That's a really late time for a U.S. reveal though.

Back then the North American certification standards were low. Nowadays all the handling and accident-avoidance tests, VSC calibrations, etc. need to be done at GVWR.

    About that...

Like with the Tundra, Toyota will probably change the cap and hinge to plastic and mold a cap holder into it.
