Hello again fellow aviators. I’m looking to build some fixed wing time within a couple hours of San Francisco if anyone knows of opportunities or needs a co-pilot. Happy to split costs, or if you own the plane I’ll pay 100% of the fuel.

I’m an active duty USCG helo pilot with fixed/rotary wing commercial-instrument, rotary CFII, 2300 TT, I will be working on the multi engine this summer just to have options after retirement. Airplane experience is in the T6 Texan II, Cessna 172, and Grumman. Happy to drive a little ways and get some new experience.

Just got my complex and high performance endorsements and logged my tenth hour of dual training received in a 182RG, so insurance will let me solo it. The CFI and I were tired of beating up the pattern at KSTC (St. Cloud, MN) and took a short cross country out to the Fagen Fighters WWII aircraft museum at KGDB (Granite Falls, MN.) He had another guy scheduled after me, so we only spent 35 minutes or so at Fagen; I'll definitely have to fly back over there when time constraints aren't an issue. :D

The Twin Bee. I knew a guy who had the single engine version, the Seabee. The Seabee had a pusher prob just aft of the cockpit. He would fly it to the lake and fish off the tail of the aircraft, not a bad gig.

A fella used to fly a Seabee into the airfield I worked at. Got to ride in it on occasion. Pretty cool! Kinda the same vibe of a VW bus.

Years ago someone told me about a ride in a Seebee. Engine out, hard landing on the water...an outboard motor (cargo) punched through the floor and the plane sunk. Must have been some hard landing! When the engine would quit there would be very noticable nose up pitch. Overcome that with shoving the nose down and you get the hard landing due to a lot of speed I guess. Like a Lake amphibian maybe?

A few static line pics from an event GirlsFly2, where female gender is encouraged to consider roles, predominately considered male oriented.

My role was a team lead to hot load/unload passengers into my assigned heli. We had 9 to 13 helis on the go doing short 12 minute flights with 5 minute turnarounds over 2 days launching from the infield of this former military airfield, now an active international airport - YXX. Typically we end up flying 1800 gals for their first ever flight. Sorry, was too busy to take photos of the helicopters.

The USAF planes came from all over the US, a mix of active duty, and National Guard units. The C5 Super Galaxy came up from Florida, a pair of F16s from New Mexico, active duty Navy P8 was there, and F18 Growler from Whidbey Island, and a few KC135 Tankers + multi purpose transport units. Some of the female crew on the C5 got their first ever heli flights while there. They were ear to ear smiles!

The mighty UC-1 Twin Bee, I did my MES rating in one. In fact, in that plane before the restoration and new paint.

Not me, but the paint at the time I flew it:

I had a great time a few weekends ago at the MCAS Beaufort airshow. This was my first time going, and it certainly didn't disappoint! Here's a small sampling of what I was able to get both days. The USMC MAGTF demo was really cool - seeing the CH-53, AH-1Z Super Cobra, and UH-1Y Venom helicopters was neat. Not to mention the Legacy Hornets...almost a rarity now. Hearing that blue note howl was awesome! Hopefully you will enjoy looking thru these.
