Africa Twin is the winner again! Plus no demo mode to pay to unlock (like KTM)

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Would like to ride your AT sometime. I agree, the Demo mode is the beginning of the end.
Especially when Yamaha came out with a sweet no frills t7, with some suspension work is one badass dual sport/adv ride.

I was just telling my friend the other day. I still feel a little bit of throttle chopping. And sometimes the engine cuts off downshifting from 4th to 3rd around 40mph, while blipping/rev matching. But other than that, its all the bike I need!

Kinda crazy that i havent been looking at others. Yea i drool over a T7 or a RnineT scrambler sometimes, but they cant replace my AT. And its been over a year and a half and I havent changed bikes!

Still pumped for the NEBDR in a couple weeks. But I really need to go camping and test the gear I bought a year ago haha. I've only got a couple weekends left before June 8

Just another nail in the KTM coffin. KTM burned me when I had my 390 and their connectivity app changed overnight and bricked my bluetooth controls ability with my phone overnight with no warning.

I'm taking a couple of vacation days, off starting tomorrow. So it will be sleep in to get some much needed rest, then some coffee, and then jump on the bike and put some more break in miles on her.

@GHOST SHIP did you ever figure out a quick release latching system?

I just thought of something now.. What about for a camera/tripod? There are also monitor quick release brackets

I tried a camera setup like this:

Atomshue V-Mount Battery Plate V-Lock Quick Release Plate Assembly Kit for V-Mount Battery https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098PPBFMK

It’s a pretty neat setup that has a million uses but I didn’t feel like it was strong enough for my needs. I ended up finding a solution in the least likely of places. I kept the fire extinguisher style quick release on the bike for my cases and flat plates for rotopax, etc. then I used cobra buckles on my laptop bag to attach to a plate that attaches to the bracket. It sound like a lot, but the whole setup is really low profile and I can swap out mounts to suit the ride in seconds. I’ll get some pics when I get home later tonight if I remember. It helps that I make all the components myself. Haha.

I will say the best package is light weight, not too light. And around 100hps.
Everything else is what it is…I laid the smack down on the 1190r. But off-road, I would be fine with less ponies. WTF…did I just say that.

I have a hard time leaving my orange steeds, as I ride hard as hell and they always leave a smile on my face…that throttle!

Will be looking at buying another big ADV bike sometime. Will I get an AT? GS? T7 and use it like a big bike? Would I dare get another 1290r but in the ADV flavor?

Pretty fair assessment. I agree with all of this, I have the previous gen triple black gs1200a, and it was a beast. I mean made my 1190r feel small.
On the road they are amazing machines, to carve the canyon or flowing ride your the blue ridge parkway.

When you hate them is when they are standing still. They are easy to balance and walk around, but you know you’re next to a bull!

The engine heads are a wonky, always have and will be. Especially if your a mx rider and/or you use your feet a lot in the technical stuff.

someone on a local fb group just asked if a GS1200 would be a good trail bike.. @03dumdum wheelies his GSA1200 every time we ride, and it puts a huge smile on my face! like 12 o'clock wheelie over train tracks every time!

T7 could be fun, but doesnt have the features that Im used to now.. cruise control, touch screen, so many damn modes!...

I think my AT has 100hp? its good for me. Not too fast, not slow. I can dumb down the amount of horses when Im in an offroad mode or set up 2 modes for whatever I want in terms of traction control, engine braking, power, wheelie control, etc..

Well I dropped my rear rack of to the powder coater, he said he's backed up and it would be at least 10 days. Np I said, your the only guy I go to. Then we chatted awhile, he tells me he's going in for surgery tomorrow to remove a cancerous tumor from his gut. Not cool, he's a good hard working man. It might be longer than he says but I'm OK with that. He has guys that work for him but you know how that goes when the cats away the mice will play.

It's just a little disappointing about the engine because I love how the heads stick out and love the characteristics of the engine otherwise.

I bought more groceries today with the Navi and was smarter and used the net.
