I can almost reliably trick PCS to activate at the same place every time. On a curved residential street there's usually a car parked on the outside of the curve and the system thinks I'm going to hit it. Curious if it considers steering angle in its programming.

I didn't know or had forgotten you could change the sensitivity. Good to know. It's only beeped at me a couple times and applied once. The one time it applied I was cut off by a hard braking car and I don't think I could've reacted in time. It's good in my book.

I anticipate turning off one or more of the safety sensors depending on the circumstances. LDA is not on ... just an annoyance. But the Pre-Collision only becomes annoying in miles of stop-and-go construction traffic, BSM in the same conditions because cars are always in your blind spot, etc.

Other times they serve me well.

In my experience many of the features of these trucks could be offset by a good driver. Personally, I wish they were options. I would opt out.

I know how to adjust the sensitivity when using the cruise control. Is that different than adjusting it for the PCS? If so, how do I adjust the sensitivity for the PCS. And yes the LDA is a PITA.

yes, I believe they are two different settings,,, but using the same sensor for two different functions.
Not being a wise-ass, but it is in the manual. If I could remember, I would tell you, but I set it day 1 when I got it 4 years ago, and never touched that setting again.

Yes, they use the same hardware and likely share most of the firmware as well. Toyota doesn't make it all that easy to find things in the manual, but then again I don't know that any manual from any manufacturer had the answer to a question I had. I use the manual to find the tire changing information and jacking points, but little more.

Good problems to have sometimes homes! It saved me from rear ending someone once. Tripped me out, but that’s what happens when you stop paying attention in our tight freeway traffic.

LDA is used when I’m traveling up the 395 to Mammoth exclusively!!!! Keeps me out of trouble when I be staring into the Eastern Sierra granite.

Most of the time, it’s the laziness in us that causes these issues. Don’t use it in traffic.

I've only had my PCS activate when it needed to. Everybody gets distracted to some extent while driving, and this system has saved my ass a time or two. I'm an attentive and competent driver, but the aids have their place. I love PCS, on my '21 it works perfectly.

As far as those complaining about ABS - do you know how physics work? ABS works damn well. If you think it makes it worse, pull your ABS fuse and slam on your brakes - but dont complain to me when your wheels lock up & you slam into a wall.

TW is full of "my generation and model Tacoma is best" curmudgeons.
Just give it a minute, Father Time will call their flip phones and distract them.

I don’t have this feature. I’m sorry I bumped into this thread as a new post and I have to comment. I really dislike all the warning lights we have these days in newer vehicles. We used to just check the air in our tires once a week and when we’re filling up the tank we’d check the oil, scheduled regular tune-ups and if your car didn’t seem to be running right you had it looked at. Todays vehicles take most of the thinking out of the equation, tell you basically all you need to know and maybe more. I guess some of these features like keeping you in your lane or this PCS help you stop, probably a good idea for the people that drive around distracted on there phones

ABS has improved tremendously since it was first introduced in the mid 1980s. We had Ford chassis ambulances starting around 1986. Front ABS only and it was horrible, especially in wet or icy conditions.

So bad we just called it the Anti Braking System.

I happen to be interested in this...it's activated twice in my 2021 Sport in the almost 2 years of ownership.

Both times I was aware that my approach speed was slightly too fast.

Automatic Braking did not take place because I reacted quickly.

I have not had a problem with PCS.

It's never triggered when I wasn't ready to take action to brake myself.

Except for going under an overpass a couple times on the highway, the shadow triggered it - happened a couple times.

Welcome to the Nanny state mandated by federal requirements.

I still believe that new cars wont even have mirrors in ten to twenty years because the majority of the public is too dumb to use them.. But hey, why invest a little into better schooling and training for the younger generations when we can invest wayyyy more into developing dumb technology that makes out lives "better"

I've had mine chime a few times telling me to brake but has never applied the brakes for me. Will it actually do that or is my truck (SR5 Trail) not equipped with that?? Hoping it isn't...
