So I have noticed this sort of squealing/chirp sound that comes from the front of my truck (2019 v6) when I increase the RPMs where the sound also increases in volume. I can hear it in all gears including park and neutral. However I cannot hear it when the truck is idling, only when i increase the RPMs such as driving or revving the engine. My fan belt looks fine so I’m not sure what it could be. I only have 22k miles on it so the belts shouldn’t be giving out so soon

Probably the belt. I just changed my last weekend to fix the exact same problem. I'm at just under 50K miles.

I just took it in and they said it was the belt AND pulleys. I somewhat doubt it’s the pulleys because of my low mileage even though the advisor told me the wear on the pulleys could be due to lack of driving which I have hard time believing

I doubt the pulleys are bad too.

I’m thinking the same thing. They said the mechanic used a stethoscope and did a full check of the pulleys and belt (the belt was glazed) and it looks like they just want to replace all the pulleys plus the belt which is gonna run me $750. I’m gonna take it to a local mechanic later and get a second opinion

Take the belt off and spin the pulleys by hand. Listen for any noise

Is there rust or something on the surface of the pulleys?

Any good mechanic would put the new belt on and test run it before any pulley is replaced unless the pulley is falling apart or obviously making a bearing noise. Love to see the book time on that to justify $750.

That’s apparently what the mechanic reported, sound coming from the idler pulleys and belt, didn’t specify which ones just basically said all need to be replaced. He allegedly listened with a stethoscope but like everyone is saying there is no way all 3 pulleys are shot at 22k miles

Correct, he is trying to make more money thus he is NOT a good mechanic.

    Work in progress...
Change the belt. Ya need to change the belt anyways. If the sound is still there then check the pulleys.

I love when Toyota says “slight wobble of the idler pulley” is acceptable and normal.
