Part of me wants to follow in your footsteps and buy a small table and crank out a bunch of gussets and over the counter tabs and stuff for side moneyz. I need to figure out an exit strategy for my 5 year plan, I don't think I can be a keyboard critter forever

 

The boulder Nissan dealership was hiring oil change techs for like $80k salary. Not bad

 

Probably equal to my salary after cost of living differences. Not bad for your one job being to tighten the drain plug and remembering to fill the car back up with oil.

You've been at your current gig for a while, right?

 

I've been a federal employee for like 13 months. Moved away from working in healthcare a month ago for a ~20K raise though.

 

How does the work culture compare between the two? That's a pretty big jump

Submitted an offer for $50k below asking on a house… they countered at $2k below asking.

Apparently that little house is holding up all of their hopes and dreams.

 

Everything no matter how small was a fire in the medical DoD world. I hear similar things from my friends in IT on the civilian medical side. We weren’t even a hospital dealing with emergencies or trauma center stuff, just a small non-emergency clinic.

New job has less responsibilities and is so much more laid-back. Time will tell how I like it. Too early and my security clearance investigation hasn’t completed to actually start my real job yet. It’s hard to complain about a 20K raise though. If I don’t like it in a year or two I can apply elsewhere in the federal system.

 

They are great little cars and at that price, an engine rebuild gets you a pretty nice car that's efficient and fun assuming it is a manual.

On a different note... Wife's out of town so I've been daily driving her range Rover now that is home after a month in the shop. Pure. Luxury. Super smooth, quiet (double paned glass even), and banging stereo. Absolutely smitten with it. It's like the outside world doesn't exist.

Sure it was expensive to fix but damn is it a treat.

 

I had a friend experience this recently as well. House has been up for ages too.

 

It’s been up almost a month at this point, and they’ve had offers lower than mine. Even their realtor thinks they’re dreaming. Oh well, maybe they’ll come to their senses later.
