    Same.
    No doubts.
I don’t see the new Tacoma pushing that much power.

And it starts at 56k? Not bad without a dealer markup..

I just hope Toyota surprises us and makes wheel wells that a sheet of plywood can fit between like the Ranger

Well officially it’s Servco pacific but also known as Toyota pacific locally, they import various brands including Toyota, Lexus, Subaru and some others.

Toyota USA (Mainland) do not acknowledge HI vehicles as their own. My vin is not readable by Toyotas USA vin check, mainland dealers don’t honor the 2 year free servicing as they did not sell the car, I have not yet had to do any warranty work on the mainland so can’t verify if they would honor any warranty work.

I even tried to buy my truck in Tacoma WA and have that dealer ship it to me, they were fine with shipping out of state but suddenly the deal fell through last minute when I confirmed I was a HI resident. I was paying cash too.

There’s plenty of info on this in TW, but Toyota USA do not sell cars in Hawaii.

Would that make the floor of the bed higher and/or the sides shallower? Haven’t seen a ranger up close…

FYI there are cut outs in the bed walls so you can put two 2x6’s width ways in place and then carry the 4x8 sheets.

Two 2x4's fit those cutouts much better than a single 2x6.

I can’t remember the last time I hauled any plywood…(and I used to be in construction, ha!)

Do find it funny that truck manufacturers use that as a selling point for something that rarely gets hauled by majority of truck owners. Living in Idaho, there are trucks everywhere, can’t even remember when I saw someone else with a load of ply.

That takes effort, I prefer hauling plywood with the tailgate closed at an angle in my fullsize but I want to go to only a Tacoma again

I know of the cutouts but I prefer the plywood on the floor or the bed or at an angle with the tailgate closed

My ATV would fit better if there was more space between the wheel wells.

Its only the Raptor though that fits the plywood because it is 3 inches wider than reg Ranger

Ford made the Ranger bed 2 inches wider giving space to put a 4x8 sheet of plywood flat in the floor. And also easier to fit ATV's etc. It is something that was a long time coming to the midsize market.

I don't haul plywood very often but I do haul items that when bought in bulk are palletized, and because you can't fit a normal sized pallet flat in a tacoma bed, I have to hand load the stuff on and off. Not the end of the world, but man sometimes it would be nice to have the store set the pallet in the bed and when I get home, unload the pallet with my tractor pallet forks...

Does Toyota have any obligation to make the bed have the same capabilities of a full sized bed? I'm thinking they purposely don't make it the same to squeeze buyers in to a Tundra. The target market for a Tacoma is different than a Tundra I'd think. Time will tell once dimensions and specs are released.

That is incorrect, the inside dimensions of the new ranger bed is 48.2 inches inside the wheel wells.

    The ford spec sheet here
    https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/thre...for-north-america-34-160-starting-price.7351/

The Raptors track width may be wider but that has nothing to do with the bed, they opened up the decisions a bit on all the configurations.

I have a 5X8 utility trailer for the big stuff, so it is like having a full-size truck bed, without having to own a full-size truck. So much easier to load, even the guys at the hardware store like it. “Man, we have been loading stuff in jacked up trucks all day long, this thing is nice!” Yep, work smarter not harder. :)

Great idea, but not everyone has the space to store a utility trailer.

Correct, and since the Tacoma and Tundra are touted as "lifestyle" trucks and not work trucks (Toyotas words not mine) Its kind of crazy that they didn't think of doing something as simple as giving 48 inches between the wheel wells as that will enhance a lot of users lifestyles...lol

They don't have any obligation to do anything, but I will hand it to ford on the concept, the normal bed width combined with the higher payload and towing, makes it a lot easier to load up an ATV, hook up a travel trailer and head to the mountains for a week or two without having to compromise a lot.

I would argue that the thought put into those features begin to make it look like a better "lifestyle" truck than the tacoma.
