3rd Gen Tacoma Super White Peeling Paint

Also the Toyota near me even has a system they follow for cars that come in with that problem they only take 2 cars a week and you have to wait till your car has its turn to be painted

 

Watch out for your door crevices around the outside and your gas cap hole and your inner fender cause it can start in any of those places

 

Where I’m at there are Aton of people who have the issue like I said above I’m waiting for Toyota to say it’s my turn

 

It's a disgruntled employee peed in the paint mix for that batch. At least that's what I think it happened.

 

i can tell you there is something weird that happens with white paint. Toyota had a extended warranty for paint problem. you can take it to the dealer see if they can cover under warranty. some say is 14 warranty on the paint.

 

cammerv8..... not true in the case of a Tacoma. If you own most other Toyota models and it peels, they fix it, a Tacoma even though it's the exact same paint, nope! They tried to BS me and said "there are not enough Tacoma complaints to create a TSB" I call BS! I'm in about year 4 fighting this and it's going nowhere, I even have the letter from Toyota that basically says (my interpretation), yeh we know our white paint sucks and yours may peel, this letter doesn't mean shit, but if some day out of the goodness of our heart, or someone sues us, we may fix your white truck.

Personally, this is my second white Tacoma that peeled, I paid $800 to fix the last one, this one is estimated as a $4,000 repair!

 

And it happened twice .wow

Don't see many 19s listed though. We'll see in in 3-4 years if newer trucks are immune. Probably not though.

Toyota will fix these. If you dealer says the Tacoma isn't covered, find a different dealer. I was turned away at my closet dealer, but the body shop at DeLuca Toyota in Ocala, Florida took pics and emailed Toyota directly. 3 weeks later all effected areas have been repaired. 2017 model.

 

That’s great. Opposite of what a lot of people are seeing, but glad it’s working out in some cases

 

Your complaint has been saved, how nice of them. They should step up and fix this for you. Keep posting about it. Post on the dealer website, google reviews, and everywhere else you can. Be sure to include what Toyota did/not do for you after you spent your hard earned money to buy their product. It's shameful to tell you they have saved your complaint but not offer a real solution to you.

 

Happening on mine too. Anyone use clear helicopter tape or similar to cover the affected area and stop it from peeling??

 

Well, I have a 2019, and just found 2 places where it is peeling. Small spots, but I have a feeling this is just the beginning.

 

Bummer. Is yours a Mexico or US build?

 

That's depressing. Time to waste money on a new paint job. Might as well get flames

 

My ‘17 had the window frames too and today I noticed the passenger side inner fender by the hood, so I guess I will go to Toyota just to set my complaint on paper, this 3 gens have way too many issues.
Let me know if there is a big group rwady to sue Toyota.

 

There was a change.org petition. Every now and then I look at it a s the signature resets when it's closer to 5k signs.....
