:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/turkey shooters. I'm going to finally mix up a batch of weed killer spray today. I usually do a few areas twice a year but this year it has been tough to find a few dry sunny days in a row. After that I might take a peek at the gutters. I have my fingers crosse that the heavy rains last week cleaned them out for the most part; I'll probably still have to muck out the ends near the downspouts though.

Can't like this post. We're keeping you in our thoughts.

:rain: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Wet morning for a haircut and errands, but should be stopping when I actually leave. A nice 1/3-ish inch overnight. A big 2/10 slowly, all day yesterday. Good rain.

I'm beginning to think that all wild turkeys are actually just Warner Brothers cartoons.....

    Good luck Tom!

Turkey hunting with a camo outfit, a turkey call, a permit, gun, ammunition... seems so over the top dumb when you can just reach over and grab them by the neck as you stroll along the sidewalk. I do my turkey hunting at the grocery store, so maybe my opinion doesn't count.

Well, I'm pretty excited about this opportunity. I needed to join the national outfit first, then I can join my local wing. Then, I can volunteer to be a helping hand. I stopped by today, worried I would not be "able" enough - happily, most of the gents I saw are not any younger, or faster than me. In fact, fast is not a necessity. And their Master Tech is always glad for more hands. I'll go once a week (at least) when the paperwork gets done.

My recent (Covid era) experiences with parcel delivery services has changed my mind on the issue of whether the USPS should be privatized. I now favor dumping the Postal "Service" to the highest bidder and let the chips fall where they may. I'm sure there are a lot of good people employed in the Post Office, but it has been trashed and politicized from top down and from bottom up to the point of no confidence in any service they formerly provided the American Public. I don't know how many peripheral services they perform, such as Passports, but from what I've heard, even that service is plagued with problems.
There are surely those who will consider this a political post, and call for its removal. I feel that it is not political, and that if a considered discussion cannot be had on a subject as important as this, then what is the point of discussing the trivia of everyday life if we are censored in intelligent conversation?

    Brought back memories!!

I was never a member of the "Confederate Air Force" .... now the "Comemorative Air Force", but visited their place in Midland/Odessa years ago. I still have a CAF jump suit in my closet. Broke my heart a few months ago when I saw their B17 (which I stood next to in El Paso once) being hit by that fighter plane and demolished. It happened at the airport I worked at while finishing college in Dallas (working on corporate jets).

I worked on a number of C-47's in the Navy .... wonder if the one you have pictured might be one of threm?!?!

I loved our small town USPS.
Then they got a new Post Master. Things went down hill, and familiar faces are gone. (For some reason, we were on Rural carriers routes, now we are not).
I still like them, they do all the things they need to with as much reliability as anyone is the bizniss. But MAIL, is NOT Parcel Delivery, even though they may do both.

No Navy service that I know of in her records. She was discovered rotting in a field at a turboprop place in Wisconsin. Literally with forest growing through the body. Someone matched the serial numbers, and she was rescued. A great story, and the rebuilt was mostly (here) in San Marcos. "That's All Brother" was the lead C-47 in the D-Day paratroop drop. I will literally have a chance to touch history.
There is a B-25-J, that blue T-6 Texan trainer, another trainer, a Cessna Executive, and the only currently flying P-39 AiraCobra! I am stoked...

Most of the problems I've had with postal service have been from individuals. I've never seen a business with such bad morale and people unconcerned with doing what they are employed to do. I suspect the organization has made it almost impossible to fire anyone and the employees know this.

Usps here stinks. If they get your mail to the right address you are lucky. And most of my packages are usually destroyed and have holes in the boxes. Ups isn't much better. Only package deliver I've had that is good is Amazon, go figure. Hmm maybe they should handle the mail?........

Super neat. Sign up and volunteer!

My uncle Bob was part of the ground crew on the Memphis Belle. That's him, second from the right in the photo.

A farm kid who could repair anything and keep them flying. MSgt Giambrone has painted the tail with the ground crew names,
misspelling our family's last name by adding an "s" to it. Hence photos are credited to Robert Walters (oops).

Fun times when Uncle Bob brought his English wife home.

My Irish grandmother, Bob's Wife, my Mom, and Uncle Bob (Dad's younger brother).

My grandmother was 3rd generation American, but very heavy Irish accent. People often thought she
had just stepped on the boat. Sassy, wicked sense of humor, sharpest tongue you had every met.
Bob's wife made the mistake of a off hand comment about the Irish. Oh fur went flying!

We never had boring house parties as a kid.

I received my MRI results and know that my lower back portion of my spine has issues. I am trying to get out in front of the issues before real pain sets in. From the little research I have done the only physical therapy is building up my core muscles in the abdominal area. I am seeking help from persons trained in the problems so I do pain management correctly.

TY for the pics and this looks like a great volunteer opportunity.

Good early morning. Off to take my wife to the airport this morning. She has a 6am flight to Chattanooga for a week with girlfriends.

Good morning all. Probably ticked off my neighbors this morning when I left. Decided to ride my Buell to work for a change and that exhaust borders on obnoxious. I suspect they didn't like hearing it at 6 am nearly as much as I did.

I'm off today, slept in and now enjoying a giant cup of coffee.
Only thing I have planned is to take the mistress for a ride.
