The vast majority of 4x4 crewmax 3rd gen Tundra payload numbers are 1,400lbs+/- so don't expect too much of an increase in Tacoma payload numbers.

Edit: I will say most people that have gone and actually weighed their Tundra have found out they actually have 100lbs+ more payload than what the door jamb lists. It seems Toyota went conservative on the listing.

Agree on the black roof. I prefer white vehicles because they are so much cooler (talking temperature), a white truck with a black roof makes no sense to me. Looks great though.

Cause they know we are too much of fan bois, and won’t buy anything else. Like those girl friends, “ohh you’ll get some, but I’ll tell when you’re gonna get it.” They know we won’t stray… lol!

How do y’all feel about paddle shifters in the most powerful (iForce Max) engine option?

It depends on the meaning of “lifestyle”. I think Toyota means going to the lifestyle center AKA mall.

The 30th anniversary versions came with the 4.0 V6.

    https://global.toyota/en/download/24438353/

Spot on with all the other points. The 200 Series did sell in low volumes, they kept it around, rumor has it they are bringing it back, 300 series that is.

So like the dumb and dumber quote, “sooooo…there is a chance” that the 70 series could come to the US. :p

The plywood dilemma could be solved simply with a multi position tailgate that can be propped at the same height as the wheel wells. I just flip open my bed extender and lay the plywood on top of it and the wheel wells.

There are interesting rumors about the 300 series, they spotted one with manufacturer plates with two flat tires sitting in a parking lot somewhere in Michigan. It never was shown at any U.S. car show.

The 4L in a 70 would be very underpowered.

IIRC seeing a bunch of 300s on a car hauler somewhere on the interwebs.

Yeah it would, need a super charger to make it somewhat tolerable. Think those were only sold in Japan. There was also the 70th anniversary ones too, that were sold in the Middle East.

Could see it on a desert truck blasting around. Not so much for slow going.

Paddle shifters are meant to be used with a dual clutch sequential transmission in manual mode. They seem really weird and out of place on automatic transmissions.

Thanks, not much into sports cars. Didn’t know. Learn something every day! :)

I am long time manual trans guy (like 40 years) don’t really pay too much attention to slush boxes.

A lot of normal cars and suvs have paddle shifters just because it's the latest trend.

Everything in a 70 is underpowered. Have you ever driven a BJ70? Haha.

    But seriously, the GRJ76 (5-door Wagon) is about 2150 kg (4730 lbs), the GRN285 4Runner is 2095 kg (4610 lbs). It's about 2.5% heavier.

The GRJ79 (Pickup) is about 2065 kg (4540 lbs), the GRN310 Tacoma (3.5L) is 2060 kg (4530 lbs).

Seems like it would basically be like driving a 4Runner or a Tacoma.

    Jeff
