This was cool, got to tour a construction site this past Tuesday in Philadelphia. 109 Elfreths Alley - the oldest continuously occupied street in the country.

Wrapped up that complicated multi-piece crown moulding job today. Took a risk and pre-assembled the entire section for the last bank of cabinets and it fit nearly perfectly. One of the 22.5 degree inside miters opened up slightly (about 1/16") as I was securing the assembly with screws through the top of the cabinet. Just hit it with a wee bit of caulking. Almost all of the other joints are really tight. There was enough of the crown pieces left over that they asked me to do a bank of taller pantry cabinets that they hadn't planned on doing. No filler piece on that, so it was pretty easy. Homeowner has touch up paint. Customer is very happy and I'm pretty please with how it all turned out given how difficult it was.

Here's what the assembled pieces looks like from behind (with added blocking).

That's interesting to look at on the big screen. Ours is similar, but more overlap (shorter), and hasn't been fully installed yet. I'm not sure how I feel about the look really. Interesting choices by those doing the design. It looks really tall on those upper cabinets above the counters, but I suspect that's exactly how ours will look if it ever gets done. I'm glad I'm a dude and I can DGAF about this stuff :)

how that service passes inspection without any protection on the service entrance cable coming out the bottom of the meter, i'll never know!

at least they installed bushings on the pipe that passes through the brick, but that really should be fully enclosed to prevent physical damage.

most don't anymore. new-ish code(2005 iirc) requires any appliance to have a disconnecting means. the entire idea is servicability-- there's got to be a way to shut off power right near the device so anyone that goes to work on it can safely shut it off.

that can be a plug end on a dedicated outlet in an adjacent cabinet(disconnecting means must always remain accessible), or it can be hardwired with a switch in a similar location. but no, an outlet behind the dishwasher, or hardwired, isn't to any recent code.

newest electrical code requires that they're also installed on a GFCI as well.

i saw a story somewhere posted by the wife. she said her husband annoyed her somehow, so she poured a cup of water in front of the dishwasher to keep him busy for a couple hours...

    next time try flowers!

in the '90s it was sort of code in the respect it was mentioned but rarely enforced.

bosch units come with 2 cord kit options. both plug directly into the back of the units. there's the hardwire method which is basically a code that leads to an included junction box. there's also a model that comes with the same cord, but with a standard receptacle end on it. most of the one's i've done have all been the cord/plug option.

in my area, most inspectors are ok with the cord/plug option. some require the switch/hardwire option for disconnecting means, though many are changing to all accepting the cord/plug method, as that allows the GFCI to be installed under the sink.

Code inspector at one job required an arc fault/GFCI breaker on the garbage disposal. Tripped the breaker every time it was turned on...

The two spots I’m using a fancy breaker are the 20 amp garage circuit and the sump pump. Figure it’s nicer to reset the sump from the house and the garage is where the panel is so it’s smarter to go there than to the receptacle.
