Could be inner fender, if it was the flare/cab mount you'd definitely feel it lol. Have you hammered the inner fender at all?

The only reason I suspect it isn’t the fender is that I don’t hear it/feel it if I hit them straight on, only when the wheel is turned full lock. I imagine if I’m hitting the fender I’d be hitting it with the wheel straight, too. Cab mount is relocated and has substantial clearance so definitely not there.

I’m thinking it might be the fender flare. Going to clean the inner fender area so I can see where the tire is slamming and/or wait until I can get it up a lift.

dont need a forklift. put truck on jackstands and remove the front shock. jack control arm up with tire mounted. cut/hammer where needed and give a little extra clearance for bushing deflection

You might not need to clean anything. If the tire is hitting something look for the areas the tire cleaned for you by rubbing.

I suspect I’m hitting the UCA under compression at full lock.

This is about 95% lock (i.e. the wheel snaps backs little when I let go) and the inner part of the sidewall is directly under the UCA. Under compression, it’d push straight up into it. Eh, well, the UCA moves with the wheel assembly right? I'm only getting rubbing at compression.

What’s the best next steps for clearing an SPC UCA? I’m already on -12 (4” backspace) SCS RAY10. Can I align my way out of this hole?

Probably not. A small spacer should give you the clearance though.

edit - looks like your UCA ball joint is set to the furthest outward position already

That’s exactly what I didn’t want to hear. ;) I’ll try a spacer and get the rest of the issues worked out then maybe switch to a 3.5-4” BS wheel.

Eh, I just realized I'm only getting a rub under full compression and not at lock, so I must be getting quite close to the UCA but not hitting it. My suspension knowledge is a little rusty but the UCA moves up with the wheel under suspension and so compression wouldn't cause the wheel to move up into the UCA, right?

I guess it's time to pull the coilover and do it right. ;)

Alllllright we’ve gotten to the bottom of it.

I do touch the UCA just barely at full lock and full compression but not enough to care.

It’s rubbing on the remote res. I’m not sure I actually have any great options for moving it so I’m probably just going to live with it for now.

I’ve also knocked my alignment out within a week so there’s that.

Was it rubbing when the alignment was good? A small spacer could cure all of that depending

Yeah, it was rubbing before the cam tab got knocked. It’s a pretty decent rub and at that position I’m not sure any additional offset would help but maybe I’m failing to visualize the radius?

What offset are you running? I know adding negative shifts your rub from inside towards the cab mount and firewall but it looks like you don't need much to get off the uca and those resi's. Basically trying to thread a needle where you aren't too much in either direction

    I'm on 16x8 -12s (so 4" bs). I'd probably clear at -18 or something.

I really should have gone with a 17x9 wheel for a BBK later because the 35s drag more than I expected... maybe I'm better of selling the set while they're still fresh. Or suffering for a year and replacing the whole thing a 17x9 wheel with a 3.75ish bs. I think the 3.5" that the RAY10's come in at 17x9 would pull me too far back although the CMR is pretty spacy, idk.

RRW have some good 3.77 BS wheels that are probably perfect for the next time I decide to suffer through this. The RR5-V 17X8.5, RR5-H 17X8.5, RR2-S 17X8.5 and RR7-H 17X8.5 are all available in -25mm for a 3.77 bs and would probably be a perfect fit.

since you already have SCS wheels in a 16, you could consider either the F5 or Stealth 6 in 16’s with the -25 offset. I’d think that would save you some money over a new set of tires and should be enough to alleviate your rubbing issues

This is why I went with 17x9 Summit Dakars. -25mm and allowed me to run the Wilwood BBK.

You mean I shouldn't drop $2k on a new wheel/tire combo and then $2k on a BBK and hell while I'm there I may as well do rear discs? ;)

Good sense, I'll take a look. I think I'd just try a half inch spacer first since I think the 3.5" might create more problems than it solves.

Those would be 4" backspacing which is equivalent UCA/RR clearance to what I have now, so I'd rub on those. ;) But a 3.77" would probably do it.

I think the difference in your build is the Kings. The res mount is in a better spot than the Fox ones.
