Still an 8.0” actually, just trussed carrier bearings so somewhat more stout. That’s what I put in my OR (but with Harrop locker) when I bent mine.

The new 8.75” is way better though, bigger pretty much everywhere it counts. I think only the drum brakes would swap over from second gen.

 

I work in Bellevue and Seattle. Kirkland is a short jaunt to Seattle to me

 

Valid. I still think I'd rather ride my pedal bike to Seattle. I have a pretty solid savings/investment/401k going for a 20 something year old. 3-4,000 bucks wouldn't be too much of a financial burden to deal with. Pretty specced out insurance with personal injury and full coverage of the bike would only be an additional 28 bucks a month for me since, somehow I have a pretty solid record.

Plus, I've wanted a little Grom for close to 6 years now. Throw some knobbies on it, and use it to explore.

 

Yea I’ll admit I wouldn’t ride a bus if it was free. Especially around here. Funny my BIL is a shareholder of the Kraken and I’ve turned down the last 2 invites to some games. I only go out of town to work otherwise I’m on my property with my tractor. Be careful going into Seattle. It’s gotten rotten the past few years

 

Buy a grom because you want a grom. The idea that spending $3-4000 to "save gas money" is ridiculous. Even at 15,000 miles a year, it would take an entire year to spend that much on gas with the Tacoma. Groms are hella fun

 

Believe me.... I know. I avoid it like the plague. The MMA gym I goto seems to be in a more decent part. Somewhere in the Greenlake/U district area. Passed a huge tent city about 3 miles away from the gym, but didn't see any other Seattle grime outside of that.

 

Save gas mileage/less milage on my tacoma lol. Then I could theoretically have my truck down for a week or so if I were to say..... Install a supercharger and new clutch

 

I got persuaded by my buddy to go to a game middle of the week. I couldn't imagine a worse time to go to Seattle. Turns out if the seats are good enough, even if you don't like sports ball (me), it's worth it. We were 3 rows behind the goal, I bet your buddy gets even better seats

 

I aware it’s a 8”. My trussed carrier bearing 8” axle housing is set up for my 63’s and I don’t want to redo it. I haven’t broke the trussed carrier bearing 8” in 224k miles so I figured the trussed carrier bearing 8” with an ARB would be sufficient just as I thought calling it an 8.4” would be ok.

ahhh youre looking for the whole axle from a 3rd gen... i keep seeing 4.30 clams from 2017's so somewhere out there theres gotta be a pile of 4.30 rears. i cant imagine that toyota changed much with the elocker wiring on the 3rd gen, i mean shit, its practically a 2.75 gen that received a new motor and a few cosmetic makeovers. i quick look at the wiring diagram would give you an answer on what youd need to wire it up.

 

Oh man, the elocker on the 3rd gen is way different from 2nd gens. It’s a huge improvement because they went away from the stupid external electric locker motor to an internal electromagnetic version that works more similar to a Harrop locker.

 

Oh damn, well then, uhm, uh good luck with that!

 

Just a heads up for north end folks, Smokey Point firestone will no longer mount and balance tires that arent purchased from them, and they don't do "custom" alignments anymore so they won't honor my lifetime alignment since I want 3* castor, so they lost a 12+ year customer. Everett Firestone on the other hand is chill and willing to do whatever i need.

Well it's been a while since I posted some of the fucked shit that I have first hand experience with. The last time I seen some shit like this was about 10yrs ago, a buddies 4runner as it coasted into my driveway on three wheels and his tire with axle shaft attached rolling down the road after he turned, then taking a squat as he came to a stop.

Fast forward to today aaaannnndddd ladies and gentlemen for your viewing pleasure I give you -
