Lol I mean I haven't had any issues with mine. Going on 2 years now. And it doesn't take up much space.

Your post is about a year and a half too late

It started when I decided I wanted to learn how to weld small stuff, only to go to school and learn oxyfuel, SMAW, MIG, and TIG, and now I do it all from my home with cnc capabilities as well :bananadead:

Sure as hell bought more tools than I thought I would!

    @mjbtaco

Arrived today, and first thoughts were "man, even the box feels cheap."

    20230510_191050.jpg

But, for the simple job it's required to do, it does it nicely! Feels nice and secure and it's nice having gotten multiple discs.

    20230510_191110.jpg

Sucks they don't offer multiple angles but I bet that can be changed by adjusting the depth of the disc a bit.

i used to get so frustrated at this.

when i was a younger, this was literally every do-it-yourself/maker/automotive magazine. it left me really frustrated all the time with their idea of 'easy'. they almost never published a project that didn't require immediate access to $10k in tools and specialty equipment they just randomly assumed everyone just had at their disposal.

"we show you how to easily build a complete car for less than $400!!" [young me, 'alright! i need a car!' reality: no job, i can take over the driveway for about 2 hours, the only tools to my name are in a budget 150-piece set, and it was from kmart, before craftsmen]

"step 1, we found some perfectly-sized steel in our scrap pile!"[my entire 'scrap pile' consists of 2 light fixtures and a toaster]

"step 2, we fired up our trusty ($1200) welder and turned on the ($400-filled) gas tank, and got to work!"
[i've got access to a magnifying glass, a lighter, and a gas tank]

"step 3, we went back to the scrap pile and came across this well used and discarded LS4 that just barely fit into our new project. it's far from perfect, and the power is much more than needed, though this extremely rare model suffered a few fatal flaws, we'll be able to make it work for this time!"
[jaw hits floor, discount wrench crosses room, magazine closes and gets tossed into recycling]

Exactly why I stopped watching DIY videos long ago and just buy tools as needed, but I totally get you and agree.

Next on my list...when I need it, is a tube bender.

Millermatic 141 is a solid choice.

I'd go with a 200 series for just a bit more though.

I thought this for years. Then I found my local muffler shop would bend any tube to my specifications. I'd just give him a pattern made out of coat hanger wire.

For as little tube bending I do, $20 and a 12pack, 2x a year was money well spent.

Exhaust tubing is thin and easy; I can get one of those kits right now.

Talking DOM, where dies for a specific diameter and radius each cost you over $200.

Their Vulcan and Titanium lines a very well vetted machines.

They have several that will run on 120 or 240v. Can't hurt to check them out.

There are lots of YouTube vids for you to entertain yourself with.
