My truck finally came!! Placed a deposit on 2/14/23 which was also the day it was built. I went today and did all the paperwork. Didn’t get to drive it off the lot because I didn’t finance through them and they want to make sure my lender’s check clears. I think they were really holding the car hostage trying to earn more money by having me finance through them, but whatever.
Very excited.

Crap. So that almost definitely means that mine has an issue. This one was built later, got to SF later, and is getting on a rail car before mine even has a revised date. I really just cant win when it comes to cars.

My daily is 15 years old. Fuck me for wanting something new, I guess. Ugh.

Be sure to have the original one re-checked with @DragonPro. It just might be on the same train. Also, you will want to use the Toyota app to see if it has recently been moved. The mileage will change when they load it on a rail car, and if that was done today, then you should see it.
That is too nice a truck to give up on it this easily...

Interesting. Mine was moved on Tuesday. I know there are a lot of Tacomas at Benicia destined for Houston, and obviously many other places. Mine was scheduled to depart on the 9th, but was loaded that day. The one that @Cetacean Sensation requested today is scheduled to be loaded tomorrow. With all the railcars headed this way, they are probably getting scarce there, so the fact they found some suggests they were identified late, and Tacos that have been waiting are probably being loaded as well. Thus patience is needed - he will get what he wants...
In our case I believe there are many railcars that will inundate GST when they arrive. Might be June before we see our Tacos. Again, patience.
Still, I hope we will be able to track the railcars sometime soon. I found it fascinating to track the ships going up to Benicia, and very therapeutic. Besides, I love doing that sort of research...

Been checking with him weekly on Mondays, not much of a point in having the guy check the VIN again right now, it's not showing a date on the Toyota Tracker site, so I doubt rerunning it right now would make any difference. My truck also doesn't show any vehicle status in the app.

I waited 15 months on a Bronco order before giving up on it and placing a deposit on a Tacoma. I'm not giving up at this point. I just want a break and I'm not getting one. Sorry. Don't mean to vent like this. Every step in the car buying process just keeps reminding me why I don't buy cars.

 

Mine had 6 miles and on Monday it moved to more 2 miles. Now today it moved 1 more mile. I’m buying my Tacoma in San Antonio, so it should be in the Houston port hopefully soon.

 

DO NOT trust the Toyota Tracker information. I know for a fact mine is on a rail car somewhere between SF Bay and Houston (probably closer to SF Bay). The Tracker site still indicates that the Tacoma "has been allocated for production". It does not indicate that it has been shipped. Apparently I won't see that until the truck gets to the distributor site in Houston. I also know that the info Dave has is far more detailed and accurate than the info the local dealer gets from the GST distributor. Things can change rapidly, so it is quite possible that when you ask for the info on Monday, you will not just get the railcar info, but find it is in Portland...

For @Oskie_78 - when we get our Tacos we will need to send @DragonPro23 a case of the really good Community Coffee with Chicory - the stuff that keeps you awake all week with just one cup. That should be really helpful for his off-roading adventures!
