    Morning Porch Folks :hattip:
Thanks Tex, she has made us very proud. She always has been a strong willed person so when she enlisted I totally believed she would do it .

When I was at sea, they used to get mad when we called them "Sea going Bellhops" we had a couple of Marine fighter wing groups on board and we got along good throughout the whole cruise .

Thank You For Your Service Ken. I was Navy '67 -'71. Good years.

Relay a Thank You For Your Service Sir to your FIL.

Have a great day all :D

The Chiropractor I go to has one of those and it helped when I had herniated disc. I am hoping to get a referral to chiropractor and/or physical therapy. I am trying to stay out in front of the problem before it becomes painful.

Carl: I had a CRS moment last night when I cancelled a hotel reservation that I thought I made by mistake. It was a hundred dollar lesson in life.

She was a Marine when she got on the bus to go to boot camp.

I will be in Port Austin next month. I like the farmers market on Saturday mornings in Port Austin. My SIL has a cottage on Saginaw Bay in Caseville.

Good morning. Off to the gym and then back home to to remove the router and Wi-Fi function of the Verizon Quantum gateway and install a mesh network. First time I have done this, and I think I have all the information I need. Should be a fun day as I smoke up a rack of pork ribs.

Good morning and happy Friday to all.

Never served personally but was always told: Marine = My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment or Muscles Are Required, Intelligence Not Essential. Of course I learned these from a Navy coworker......

    Ken,

First half of 69 (on the Enterprise to Vietnam) I was in Ordinance, loading bombs on our A7's all night. After we returned I moved to the electrical shop. After the mandatory one year out of boot camp I went to AE school in Jacksonville. Since I made 3rd class while in school they gave me a choice of duty station ..... I chose NAS Corpus Christi (100 miles from my home). I was discharged in September 72 as a 2nd class petty officer.

    Tex, I joined Jan 72.
IC "A" school in San Diego. Met my ship in Subic. Back and forth to the firing line off North Vietnam and Subic. Refueling ships.
We refueled the Enterprise and saw flight ops of 6 planes. Then the whole coast lit up with napalm.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Looks like mowing morning before the great floods come!
Congrats @johneman, and thank all you folks for your service!
Have I mentioned that I hate plumbing? I have? So, I got the handle parts to replace the old in the tub, after they broke when I replaced the cartridge this week. Should not be but a few minutes... I get the new handle shaft on, and it just flops around. I have used this exact part before, and don't remember a problem. Old shaft has an insert - new one doesn't. Doesn't say anywhere if it should. Old one is NOT coming out. Research possible part number, and hours later I have some coming from Home Depot. Put the broken one back together, and I get the chance to do it again tomorrow.

    Morning all:

Don't remember hearing either of those, just USMC = Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. We had a contingent of Marines onboard the ship due to the nukes, don't know how effective the sailor on deck watch on the subs would have been with the .45 that he was armed with, probably couldn't hit the broad side of a barn!

At the graduation today I met a fellow Forrestal mate who was an Aviation Ordinance man and he was on her when she lit up. Loading 1000 pound bombs when the
missile started the fire. I have to contact him when I get home. I was one of the fortunate ones.
After boot camp, 4 months of aviation ordinanceschool in Jackson illegal Florida then 2 1/2 years at NADCJohnsville. Like being on a country club. My last 10 months were on the Forrestal, 4 months while she was in dry dock and 6 months sea trials and a Med cruise. Was discharged 2 July 1971. Spent my last year as 2nd class po as well. Life was good aboard ship at that rank :D

Friday is a much better day! Yard is done, everything cleaned and put up.
My faucet parts are here already, and they look right. $4.90 each, and FREE 20 hour FedEx? OK, I'll take it.

For those of you who can't imagine a GasHole. My little cord pops out of its hole every time I try to hang on the clip. When I put it on the bed cover, it rolls away. Annoying pop-up ad showed this one, Amazon $13 - $16. Two minute install. I also heated up the plug end of the tether, and stuck it back in while melty.

You know, I can fix or build or repair just about anything, and have made my share of dumb moves in so doing. I’ve put more labor and money into some things just out of stubbornness in not giving up. I say that with one major glaring exception, that being electronic gizmos. A simple electric motor or waffle iron or washing machine, yes, but go away with your computers and printers that don’t work anymore. Now, back to my fixing regular stuff, that’s easy, but I can never complete any project without at least 4 trips to the hardware store. I remember once I had to replace a starter on a chevie. I replaced not one, or two, but three rebuilt starters that all made the same clanking sound when I hit the starter for a test run. Idiot me had the car up on one jack stand, wracking the frame till the fan blade clanked in the radiator. This is the curse of the DIYers. Now that I’m old and decrepit, and have the experience required, I’m too out of shape to do those things I really don’t trust others to do. That faucet of yours is typical of the problems I’d run into and I’d be enjoying every beer that went along with the job.

    Morning.
Gotta get my ass in gear.
Taking the race car to a test and tune day. Have to break in a new ring and pinion and shift dogs.
Check everything out and get ready for the season.

    Making another life move.
I’ve decided to start up candle pin bowling again.
Just lost the mojo (or whatever) while killing myself at work.
    Been 20 years.
My boy and I use to bowl together and we won a few tournaments.
While cleaning my equipment, I found a score sheet from my earlier time.
It’s significant since I was bowling real good and was a little above average for a four
string total and I lost going on tv by 6 pins. Now losing was not the kicker. The kicker was the guy that beat me was not as good a bowler as I was. His average was quit a bit lower than mine and just
bowled so far over his head that day he couldn’t do anything wrong…
So the first time on tv he got trounced. He bowled his average….
The guy that beat him bowled below my average…
It was one of those “what if” moments…LOL…
    But, great memories……

We will see if I can dust the rust off. Maybe with a can of penetrant so I don’t squeak and
make a fool of myself….. I’m not expecting too much. As long as my arm doesn’t leave my body and I don’t fall I’ll consider it a win.
    Have a good day…

I like this whole post, Mike!!

So much envy for your skills as a mechanic with the race cars and being to be part of the team.

And, getting back to something you enjoyed years ago sounds like so much fun. I recommend you follow my goals that I set for myself at the beginning of each golf season.

    Goal 1: Don't hurt yourself.
Goal 2: Don't hurt anyone else.

    In that order. :D

Candle pin bowling on TV. There's something I haven't thought about in years. Channel 38 from Boston on Saturday afternoons.

Hope test and tune went well. Looking forward to seeing your team run at LRP next month. Going to try to get @lynyrd3 to meet me at the track.

Good morning. Yesterday went about as I expected it to go. Finished the router and Wi-Fi point install and I now have a high quality Wi-Fi 5 mesh system installed for under $250.00. Installation took about 5 hours longer than it should have due to a multitude of learning experiences I had to resolve, but I now have a fast mesh Wi-Fi system covering the entire home and property. And as a bonus I put an old 512 GB Micro SD card in the RT2600ax as a small NAS server.

Today it is off to the gym then home to load up my son's truck for an overnight stay at my sister's beach home to help with some chores and enjoy music tonight.

    Everyone have a great weekend!
