First off I'm glad you are ok!
Secondly, is the blue crush the metallic blue (sorta like electric blue)? That's a great color but if you have your heart set on red spend the money and get that one. That's a tough decision, probably the only two colors I would consider are these.
Black looks the best on a Tacoma but I don't have the patience or the time to keep it up, and even the white looks nice but too many problems with that paint flaking off.
I like the wheels on the sport better, plus the hood scoop looks cool.

If red is your color (as it should be!) go for that. I contemplated a gray and doing some red accenting but at the end of the day I knew I wanted red so I held out.

I'd be lying if I said the hood skewp doesn't look cool, so a few bonus points there. Does that one have the LED headlights? Those are pretty killer. I upgraded to them two months ago. It makes more sense to get those from the get-go otherwise it's a $1.3k investment, not including whatever you could recoup by selling your older lights.

I'd probably boil your choice down to which truck has the trim, addons, and juicy stuff that you know you want. Much as I love red...if the blue was more in line with what I wanted I'd be sorely tempted to go that way.

They're both long beds so you have a tough choice ahead of you for sure.

Thanks for your word. I agree the hood scoop looks great on the sports. I actually had the opportunity to take off my lift and wheels/tires from my old 22 that was totaled. I also took off the black fender flares in case I were to replace it with a sport model.

Thanks for your words of wisdom. You really touched on the big thing I need to consider, the trim and add-ons. Like you, I love the red but the blue truck that is coming in has the trim I prefer (offroad over the sport), as far as addons, they both have pretty much the same packages with the exception of the LED headlights (not included in the blue). Put to be honest, I am not too worried about upgrading the headlights down the road. I have another Taco (21 OR) and I upgraded to the OEM Pro lights a couple of months ago and the install went fairly smooth. I will likely need to wait for a Memorial Day or 4th of July sale to get a good deal.

Lastly, regardless of which direction I go (Red or Blue), I realize that I will likely upgrade when the new generation is released in a year or so. Therefore, I am inclined to think that the offroad model may be a better investment considering I am saving more than 3k now and will likely get an extra 2k for the trade or sale a year from now.

Again, thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. Stressful times but definitely helps venting out and getting advice from fellow Taco owners.

Upgrading the lights can be a bit of a pain but is relatively straightforward all things considered. I have to say, they look way better than the halogens even when off.

If you are confident you're gonna snag the next gen then I'd say go with the blue for the cost savings. I am interested in what all that gen will offer but will probably wait for the next year model to see how things change and improve, particularly from the hybrid/EV side.

Sorry for the lengthy wait in a response, didn’t see itz In short, it’s garaged and hasn’t seen any heavy rain since install. But install (done professionally, I watched) did take some little extra precautions. We shall see with rain season comes!

Exactly the truck I’d buy if I was getting something new, the dorks at Toyota Canada don’t sell the Off-road with the 6 foot box.

The wifey’s 2022, it was originally for me but she took it over shortly after buying it. I had to get a 2023 OR, Ice Cap…but that’s a different thread

I have the same color and same year with the same sport rims. I am using those rims for my winter tires and have nicer rims for the warmer weather. You may want to look into the TVD Vinyl decals to cover up the silver on those rims. A bit time consuming but they look pretty darn good all blacked out. In case you'reOE rims blacked out.jpg interested and didn't want to spend the $$$ to sand and powder coat. It was like $40 and about 15-20 minutes per rim!
