LS6 Swap 2nd Gen Build + New Tundra

On its own weight again. Still needs the springs in there but there’s a couple more things to do before I take the truck back from 454.

Im not sure what you are even saying. First of all, that is a 2wd 4 banger and I am not talking about engine bay space. Im talking about the hood closing. If you ever put an ls in a tacoma or even saw an ls w truck intake in person you would know what im talking about. Especially if @Pittsy is gonna do some desert race setup. That engine is gonna be max height. This is a hood barely closing on an ls intake.

 

Yeah I’ll have a crossover bar over the engine once it’s in. I need every inch I can get. This truck is 4WD so I gotta clear the diff which makes the engine sit up high.

That turbo setup is sweet.

 

Truck intake LS fits no problem in a 2nd or 3rd gen Tacoma. Many have done it

I guess I wasn't clear about my point. You can slam a motor to 5" off ground and put a blower under hood. What I am saying is, if you want up travel of 6" with an sas setup you need the motor up high if you want the truck to have a low stance w travel.

If you wanna run factory diff and cv's then yeah, 1st gen will even fit a truck intake. If you want high clearance front with crazy prerunner arms I assume you want it high as possible too.

 

Gotcha, yeah, good SAS you want as much space under the engine as you can for sure. Sorry I misunderstood

 

that motor was bought by land rover from buick not dodge.

What are you doing for harness/ecu? Def don't need that engine harness.

 

Yeah when I pick it up, basically that entire engine harness is getting cut off and thrown out. Im going to keep the parts of the harness for the starter and the alternator, ABS, and AC. everything else is going. Im running the LS with a Holley system. Got the last bits I need for that too.

Well, don't cut it. Just disconnect from ecu and pull it out. You won't use anything from the toyota engine harness. The only thing you use is the factory fuse box. The holley setup is pretty easy to wire. There are a few things that may cause you trouble but that's the fun part.

 

The holley stuff looks EZ PZ. I wired a piggyback onto the Lexus engine harness and that was seemingly waaaay more difficult and wasn't a problem. 12v stuff is my specialty lol.

 

Yeah, I grew up doing jdm swaps and they were always a nightmare. The holley stuff is a walk in the park if you have been through that but.... there is some weird ass american shit that make no sense and you would never see on a japanese setup.

 

Are you saying only the engine harness is removable, leaving the starter and alternator wires, ABS, AC intact? I was assuming all of this was loomed together, but I haven't even started to dig into it, pardon my ignorance.

 

No, thought you were saying you wanted to keep toyota pigtails. The holley harness goes on motor and it covers everything. You have to wire in fans, ac and ac kickdown and fuel pump (they provide whips for them off ecu). You will have to tie in alt/starter to power/battery/fuse box. You need 2 separate clean ignition and power sources for ecu (1 for ecu and 1 for everything else). 3 if you have a pro dash. Pull those off dash/body harness plugs that used to go into toyota ecu. Make sure they have 12v. I ran one to alternator that was 5v and caused me all kinds of issues.

 

ABS, airbags, and all the lights etc come through the driver side harness. All of the engine-ecu stuff goes through the passenger side harness.

I cut out all my abs and airbag stuff, so the driver side harness is basically just headlights and horn now
