Fuel seepage from fuel pump

Just recived a letter from Toyota support program, Notification # 23TE01 Fuel seepage from high pressure fuel pump, Noticable smell of fuel in or around engine compartment,

 

2021 - no issues so far it's flawless. Knocking wood.

 

yes i received it as well , the ten years start from the day you bought it. so i have 7 years left now..also no faint odor of gas yet..

 

2016 me as well nothing yet but then of course i never really looked or noticed.

 

Received notice yesterday too. No issues so far

 

I have the symptoms and it is indeed covered by 23TE01. Hopefully done tomorrow.

 

Same here for my 2020 after receiving that notice months ago.

 

I’ve got mine for my 2020 a few months back. Nothing so far and hopefully it’ll stay that way

 

Also received the notice a couple of months ago. No issues on our 2020 to date.

 

If you have time, post back about your experience with the dealer, repair, etc. TIA!

 

Repair was painless.
Dropped Thursday (Wednesday night)
Determined to need 23TE01 and the part was overnighted for Friday.
Done Friday afternoon. New High-pressure pump.
No charge.
It's only been a day but the lack of stink of ethanol-contaminated fuel is wonderful.
Tri County in Limerick PA is great.

Just got the letter and have noticed the gas smell

Better to use my mechanic or would it be easier to use a dealership??

 

If you received a notice from Toyota, schedule an appointment with your local Toyota dealer. They will repair it for free (if it meets the condition described in the notification).

As mentioned, I received the notice as well, but haven't experienced any problems.

I’ve received no such notice. wonder how Toyota determined which “certain” vehicles might have the problem. Maybe the plant where they were assembled had something to do with it?

 

Hi all I just received the 23TE01 notice from Toyota. I would like to know if the fuel odor mentioned is definitely/very noticeable in and around the engine compartment as well as inside the vehicle as mentioned in the notice. Or is the odor very faint or possibly not noticeable. I am concerned that I may have the problem mentioned in the notice but is not noticeable. The notice does not say how noticeable the fuel oder is. So for those that have said that you definitely smelled the fuel odor and took your tacoma in for repair, was it a definite..."Yeh I got a problem since I definitely smell a fuel odor." Thanks for your clarifications.

 

Was your odor very noticeable or just a slight odor?

Also, when is the odor noticeable (idling with the hood up, smell it in the cab while driving etc.)?

Hi TA2016. Appreciate your reply. I do not really smell a fuel odor. That is why I was asking if the fuel smell is very and definitely noticiable in the engine compartment, especially when opening the engine compartment, and then also in the interior. This is why I am asking for replies from this great forum before and if I should take it in. The 23TE01 notice from Toyota does not really say that the fuel odor is definitely noticiable.
