No need for halos or leds. Just need new lenses.

    Personal experiences?

I think you already know the answer but are looking for someone to tell you they are going to be great to help you justify not spending the money on genuine OEM replacement units, which, of course, is the only thing you should be considering.

    Yeah.
I'd do the TYC CAPA certified ones from RockAuto before doing the eBay roulette.

They’re only good for retrofits and even then it’s risky.

No not looking for justification, just experiences good or bad. No contest Im sure O.E.M. is much better.

I got a pair for my daughter. Her first car and no real need to spend a bunch of cash on lights for a 2004 Pontiac. Got them from RockAuto about 2 years ago. No condensation or seal issues no discoloring of the lenses. I think they were around 150 give or take. Definitely worth it in my opinion. I would have no problem with getting a set for the truck. You could always upgrade later if you wanted to.

Deal is it appears to have aftermarket and the slightly fogged lenses are really the only issue. That said this truck is a back up 2nd vehicle. It may just sit in the garage and never see another active street light. Im not cheap but is O.E.M.10x's the & worth?

Oem are higher quality but they are so expensive to me no they are not worth the prices. Some things I won’t compromise on. Drivetrain parts and important electrical I always go oem. Headlights I wouldn’t pick the cheapest but there are good reliable options for a hell of a lot cheaper then what Toyota wants for them.

When mine fogged I read every thread on here I could find about aftermarket lights since the OEM are like $185/each (or were at the time)- almost all of them had issues and every reply was that the factory headlights had better patterns and throw. I ended up polishing mine but they've fogged again so probably just time to bite the bullet and buy new ones. Being able to see well, especially at night, is one of the greatest safety features of any vehicle.

Any cheap brand like 100 you have to reseal the main seam with good sealant and hope for the best. Lenses will discolor faster so lenses will have to be rubbed out in a few years too.
Been there and are still there but I beat them up offroad and get brush scratches so do a quick sand/buff/seal every year. Nothings perfect on mine.
Most of the cheap sets warranty costs more and thru 3rd party who always question the claim so ...
No issues OEM is the way to go.

I went OEM. Not worth the price. Could of bought 3 sets of TYC and been fine. Definitely not the same quality as my originals from 03'

If you don't drive at night none of this matters but if you do then your lights are your first and best line of defense for driving at night. When you start to look at it that way, the OEM's start looking like a bargain, plus, if you put these cheap, non legal lights in your truck and they cause you to get in an accident, your insurance company might just decide to not cover you.

How long are you planning on keeping the truck? I went through the same thing a few months ago. I got 14 years out of the factory headlight housings. I polished them 3 times to prolong the life, but they were just too far gone to try that again.

I couldn't find anything aftermarket that I trusted long term. If I'd planned on only keeping the truck 3-5 more years I may have gone aftermarket, but I plan to pass this one down to one of my grandkids.

The local Toyota service department quoted me $700 for a set. I could order the same thing directly from Toyota for $600. I have a BIL who owns a local body shop and out of curiosity asked him to check on a price. The same service department that quoted me $700 sold him a set on his commercial account for $450. He had Toyota deliver them to his shop and I paid him.

To be fair, I wouldn't have paid $700 for OEM. I'd have gone aftermarket and planned on replacing them sooner. But it was worth $450 to get OEM.
