That shop is fantastic! The wife and I are currently shopping for land to build our death home on, and I'm trying to decide if I want to go with a double-deep attached garage or a separate shop building. The wife is concerned that metal buildings can't look good on the outside, but this proves that wrong. The second floor is also well laid out. I would be shooting for something in the 30'x40' range (3-car, double deep), and this design could easily be scaled up to that size.

ive a 30X40, wish it was 40x60. but yeah i can pack about 6 cars in how mine is laid out and still have room for moving around them. but i could likely pack a few more if i were to be a bit more creative. but if i could id go 40x60. its amazing how often there is something in my shop that should be there. my nephew at one point had a 3wheeler, a 95 tacoma 2wd, and a 90 toyota pick up in there all needing my hands.

For sure go separate building. Though it would be nice to step out of the house and into the shop (especially in winter), that also makes it too easy for the 'shop' to accumulate house stuff. 30X40 would be nice...mine is 28X30. With two cars, a snowmobile, a couple dirt bikes, tool box, workbench, compressor, and some shelving, I'm pretty tapped out.
The shop pictured (scaled up) is pretty sweet, with one possible exception. That sort of looks like a pool table up there. Sooner or later, someone's going to slip, and a pool/billiard ball from 10'+ up is gonna leave a mark...

Totally agree. I would put a couple rows of shelving and maybe some wood shop stuff up there.

I'm not one to street race but I'll admit that I got smoked by one of these last week. We were side by side at a stop light, windows down, and I complemented the owner on his ride. He did the same and I laughed and said that his car was at least 4x more than my little BRZ. He said yeah, but you've got a turbo in there , right? I said yes, but you're still pushing like 200HP more.
he was like, punch it & we'll see what happens.
    Welcome to gapville, population me.
By the time I hit second he was already a full length ahead.

My 310 HP BRZ was no match for this machine. :pout:
