2018 OR. Has H16 currently. Tried to install H11 Fogs. They won’t fit, even though H16 and H11 are the bulb options in the manual. Anyone know why?

    cheers!

I think different years and trims had different driving light assemblies.
Check the bulbs that came out.

They’re H16’s. But H11’s and H16’s are the same bases. And the manual says either H11 or H16. Thus my confusion.

Look at the two bulbs side by side and see what’s different and you will find your answer on why it won’t fit.

They’re identical bases. Like identical. Only difference is the bulb length. But only by about 1/8”. And the bulb is nowhere near touching the lens. Funny enough, my Ridgeline came with H16’s and I put H11’s in with zero problem. So I’m super confuzzled.

Bulbs are not identical. One of the mounting arms is aligned differently on one of the bulbs from the other. Need to trim and reshape.

H11 and H16 have been interchangeable on every truck I’ve had. I looked up H16 LED Fog bulbs on the internet. And it keeps saying H11/H16 over and over. I can’t even find a dedicated yellow H16. Nowhere.

If it doesn’t fit then it obviously isn’t identical. Something is different and preventing the new bulb from fitting.

Isn’t h11 stronger and runs hotter than h16?

    h 16 lens is plastic
    h 11 lens is glass

H16 and H11 are not interchangeable on Tacomas.

Only a true H16 fog will fit

There was a guy on one of these boards that put H11’s in. Stock housing. I can’t find him now.

Easy to buy early years OR or Pro fog housing from the sale/buy forum. Those are glass. Or go OEM LED route.

That's weird. H11s fit in my 2018 just as easy as pie, both fog and low beam positions. That's what I'm running now.

Gotta ask for clarity. You're talking about the electrical plug and not the twist lock into the housing, right? Because the twist lock gave me some grief thanks to that thick ass gasket. Always afraid that I'm going to break it with the amount of gorilla hands I gotta put into it. But the electrical socket part, I had no issues with that. Weird. See what's not lining up and trim it. That's pretty much there only answer I can give.

No like the H11 straight up won't fit the fog position but an H16 is no problem
