Blade length or deck contour. It looks like the deck has an insert and the upper blade is straight and the lower provides first cut and lift. Using a single lifted blade might be higher and cause interference damage or improper edge clearance.

To me it looks like a blade clutch for the belt drive.

Oh, I just offered so that perhaps the specs were there for finding an equivalent. Back in the day I used to use muffler specs to fit oddball vehicles or handle sound or engine changes. I couldn’t quite tell, but assumed that was the entry from the head and the backside was perforated. Probably a dual tube with packing or just resistance slots.

It seems to have more ripped away (fatigued probably) than rusted.

The muffler is (was) under the engine at the front of the mower, I haven't gone prospecting yet to find the part attached to the engine yet.

This one has always been quiet, in about 5 feet it went from normal to sounding like a air cooled VW.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I venture one of these fine people with a fancy plasma table could make a new flange if needed.

Looks like a flange tube. Should be able to make a round saddle to fix this. Cut a circle of similar light steel and shape to the curve of the muffler. If you have a punch of the flange pipe diameter, do that, otherwise cut an X and work to let the pipe pass through from the up leaves of the X. Flare the bottom of the tube and weld the circumference inside and the flared X outside. Then weld the saddle to the muffler itself…. Fixed!

Bought that car for $300, it’s a wonder it didn’t fold in half towing it home. The heater channels were completely rusted out. I learned a lot about body work on that car.

A parade of full size Jeep Wagoneers was how I taught myself to weld.
I had a 120 volt stick welder like below -- it was more stick than weld... :frusty:

I wouldn't wish the damn thing on an enemy.

    :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I always liked the Boom Tubes on the Beetles -- much better than the fart cans today.
40 hp never sounded so cool.

We have a couple battery powered Fronius stick welders at work. At first they were great, but now good luck getting even a 3/32 7018 rod to strike. Despite all the 480V outlets up on the mezzanine they brought down the Miller 480v welder to the shop. I still liked to use the thing and would spend the time setting it up as compared to the portable welder. :annoyed:

Occasionally I see Lincoln IdealArc round tops come up for sale, aside from occupying the floor space of a refrigerator, weighing 350 pounds and pulling 35 amps idling  I can't see why this wouldn't be a sensible purchase...

(...for the semi annual times I would use it...)

I'll occasionally weld something with my Eastwood Mig 140 120V at home. While it is actually a great machine for the money, after running a Miller 480V machine at work there's definitely a learning curve between both

We also have a Miller 120V MIG unit at work that nobody seems to use. I'll use it for anything sheet metal or lighter duty. I think it's a pretty darn good machine.

Been trying to talk the big boss into getting a Miller 120V suitcase welder to use up on the mezzanine for singulator tabs or the like. They can use flux core wire and would be perfect for stuff like that. Had them in my little service van when I worked on the road. We did a lot of fabrication with those.

I got the Miller 140 welder about 25 years ago partly choosing the Miller because of the clear way they were marketed.

Miller offered one 120 volt machine, a small 240 volt unit and then production size 240 and 480 units. Hobart marketed the same way.

Lincoln at the time offered what seemed like a dozen 120 volt machines all slightly different, remember this was pre-internet days so it was difficult to find the specifications and compare.
